Eggs are a great source of protein. Hard boiled eggs are just as good protein wise, but they require care to cook properly. Start by boiling water, dropping eggs in carefully, as to not break the shell. Boil for about 8 minutes or until small cracks appear in the shell.
There is a tried and true trick to boiling the perfect egg. Start your eggs in a pan covered with cold water. Bring it up to a boil, and let it boil for exactly 3 minutes. Turn the heat off leaving the pan on the burner and let them sit for 12 minutes. After that, they are perfect and ready to peel.
When you boil an egg you need to make sure you have enough water to cover the egg, and that you begin timing the egg for 10 minutes once the water starts to boil. When done, allow the egg to sit in the hot water for another few minutes, and then cool it down with cold water.
Place eggs in a pan and add cold water until it comes approximately 1 inch above the eggs. Place over a medium heat until the eggs start to boil. Once the eggs start to boil, cover, and remove from heat. Leave the pan covered for 15 minutes. Run the eggs under cold water and once cooled they are ready to be pealed.
