Turkeys need a ling amount of time to thoroughly thaw and prepare for cooking. Depending on the weight of the turkey, it can take more than 24 hours for some turkeys to thaw. You can begin thawing in a large pan or sink of warm water. After a few hours the turkey should be brought back to cooler temperature, such as in a refrigerator to keep fresh.
