Whats the key to starting a 1985 honda xl 350r thats hard starting when its cold? cannot use choke, and not use any throttle.

The hard start in your Honda could be due to insufficient power from the kick start, so a jump start might solve the problem but only temporarily. Turn on the engine, depress the clutch, and let the bike roll then release the clutch. This will required several tries before it works. You should also have the started checked by a mechanic.
