Just what WAS Nixon doing in Dallas the day of JFK's assasination?

I just finished reading something on the Internet, that he was just attending some business meeting. If that was the case, why all the evasions? Do you suppose Nixon just thought it just looked bad that he was in Dallas? This is a deadly serious question folks, and even you whippersnappers should probably ponder this for at least a minute before thinking about some tripe on Jersey Shore. For anyone else reading this question, this is one of the reasons for apathy in the political process in my opinion. It reminds me too of the situation Gary Condit got in over the death of Chandra Levy--Even though he was not responsible for her death, his evasiveness exposed a sleasiness that I and perhaps others find especially galling in politicians, NO MATTER WHAT THEIR PARTY.

What does it matter where Richard Nixon was on November 22, 1963? Lyndon Johnson was the Vice President at the time, not Richard Nixon.

And don't call me a "whippersnapper." I know these things from having experienced them, not by picking them up from Wiki-freakin'-pedia!

Despite the hostile tone of your response TexasDogMom, I will still thank you for your response. First of all I am NOT calling YOU a "whippersnapper" If you are as old as I suspect you are then in that case I"M the whippersnapper, becauae I wasn't even BORN when JFK was killed. Which MIGHT beg the question why would or should I care? Because if our own govt. pulled JFK's murder off back in 1963 AND GOT AWAY WITH IT, dontcha think Uncle Sam has gotten MUCH BETTER since then with engaging in "spooky" activities?

There is not one single shred of evidence to suggest that the government had anything to do with the assassination of JFK.

I was eight years old when JFK was assassinated, and I remember that day as clearly as if it were yesterday. You can't imagine the level of grief and pain in this country. I found out about it when I saw three of my teachers standing in a group on the playground, and they were crying. I had never seen an adult, and certainly not a teacher, cry before, and it made a huge impression on me.

There has been nothing in this country since that day that has even come close to this. When Walter Cronkite came on and had to report that the President had died, his voice broke, and he was crying, too. People gathered together in public places and stood silent in their shock and grief, many with tears streaming down their faces.

We watched Jackie Kennedy carry herself through this nightmare with such grace and dignity that we were in awe of her faith and her strength. Schools and businesses were closed and the streets were empty during the funeral, which we watched on black and white TVs with our families. When Jackie urged John-John forward to make his little salute to his father, our bodies were wracked with the sobs of grief and pain we shared.

I am crying as I write this, so you might forgive me if I remember this as a time of unparalled national pain and sorrow, and not as some stupid conspiracy theory ranting bullshit.

I saw the info. It was devastating to see Jackie picking parts of her husband's brain and head from the back of the car. To think of what people will do.

I remember it too they took my cartoons off for two weeks.

This is one of the most profoundly painful things this nation has ever had to endure. There was no one who did not feel the impact of the assassination of President Kennedy. I, for one, am sick to death of hearing lunatics who know nothing of this first hand, reducing this national tragedy to nothing more than a rant on some conspiracy website. They don't have a clue what they are raving about, none of them have even tried to understand or discern the truth. They just repeat what they saw or read on the internet, that vast repository of complete bullshit, and attack people who have the courage to say, "Stop. You are wrong." It makes my head hurt.

To TexasDogMom: I sympathize with your anguish regarding JFK's death, and you are right, I wasn't there, but I slightly resent you IMPLYING to me that just because you remember that day so vividly that, I and perhaps others dont know what we are talking about. Yes, there are lunatic theories floating out there, but there are also many INTERESTING QUESTIONS and OBSERVATIONS that have since been made to shed light on this tragic event, that for some reason have not been addressed. Eventually JFK's death will go the same route as Lincoln's death, which MIGHT be TRAGIC if it WERE'NT for some of these so-called "lunatics" bringing some observations, questions, or even ideas to light. It is also a fact that there are STILL plenty of unrealeased documents in some vault that could shed EVEN MORE LIGHT on JFK's murder, if not just point out that Oswald was just some "lone nut". WHY DON'T THESE DOCUMENTS, ALL OF THEM, GET RELEASED?? Also, I believe you seem to be forgetting what happened on September 11th, 2001: If that is not a tragedy equal to JFk's death in your eyes, then I recommend you re-watch the videos of those trapped in the upper floors of the Twin Towers, leaping to their deaths, due to NO ESCAPE before whining about "John John" and his cute little salute to his father as his casket rolled by. Finally, Barbara Bush carried herself very well when George passed out and puked on some foreign dignatary when he was President (George H, NOT "W")
Report as
To TexasDogMom again: Also remember that these "conspiracy theories" basically hit the ground running so to speak, mere minutes, after those bullets entered President Kennedy's body. It was NO NEWS back then, long before the invention or even IDEA of the internet, that there were MANY people who wanted to see JFK killed. (That is people BESIDES those with obvious mental illness) Finally remember that light shines on diamonds as well as on dog shit, I think you are smart enough to know what I'm saying here.

Thank you for your response. It has been proven that Nixon was in Dallas the day of JFK's assasination. Either that or someone is doing some SERIOUS lying. The IMPLICATION of my question is: Isn't that an odd thing or coincidence for Nixon to be in Dallas at the same time? Am I casting aspertions here? Perhaps. But I would like people to know that he WAS in Dallas the day JFK got killed. EVEN IF that was just a coincidence why wasn't the matter widely known? PS I believe my question makes A LOT of sense, and I suspect you know it does as well.

There are three theories that explain Nixon's whereabouts in Dallas when J.F. Kennedy was shot: He was in a cab in New York streets, he was in a taxi cab leaving the airport in New York and he was in a cab in Dallas. These theories are examined in depth at http://www.prouty.org/nixon.html.

Thank you especially for your response. In fact your response more or less adds "spice" to my original question--Why all the THEORIES?? Why was it so important to see that this information remained buried? Or was the informations "burial" itself just mere coincidence?

In today's world we keep better details of people lives. So, it's possible nothing is being hidden on purpose, just no one thought it was important to note where Sen. Nixon was at the time and details become scrambled in time. Think of it this way, can we account for the location of every Senator at the time of Lincoln assassination? If they were not in the same theater as the president, I bet we have a very hard time. However, today if it happened to any president, I bet we know the location of every elected official in the nation; shower, toilet, kitchen, cab, office, or the gym...

To Paul92 Thank you for your comment. I believe and hope you are right. But believe it or not there was some legitimate questions raised regarding the death of White House Counsel Vince Foster (an apparent suicide) during the Clinton years. Maybe he really did commit suicide due to mental health issues, but subsequent actions by those surrounding him aroused suspicion in the "suspicious".
Report as
To Paul92 again: Believe it or not there is or was some VERY INTERESTING questions raised regarding Lincoln's assassination, especially regarding some torn out pages from I think Secretary of State or War at the time Edward Stanton's diary. I'll admit conspiracy or not even Lincoln's murder is too far away to matter now, whereas there are still plenty of people alive today who not only witnessed Kennedy's death but had a hand in investigating it, as well. (Not to mention people like me, who even though not alive at the time, can still be affected adversely by history.)

If you are going to look for a politician that may have done something to gain power or anything then look no further then: Lyndon Baines Johnson. Not saying he did anything nor that he did nothing. Look at all the political offices he had over his lifetime and study how he was earned that position. A lot of unusual and beneficial circumstances just seem to come his just at the right time... I do believe he holds the highest number of elected positions without being elected.

VERY INTERESTING RESPONSE. Thank you as well. I stress that because some years ago I remember watching something on the HIstory Channel about LBJ's "involvement" in the JFK's murder that practically got the History Channel sued. ( I wish I had recorded that particular show with a VHS tape when I had the chance) You're right LBJ took slease in politics to a level that I don't think even Bill Clinton could have matched.
Report as
Yea, interesting with all the shows that come on the history channel (good and bad - I do not trust all the programs facts), but that be one to be challenge to a possible law suit? Johnson would have been dead for 20 plus years, he passed 40 years ago.
Report as
To Paul92: Again thank you for your comment. I don't always believe in what I see on TV or read either. And in some cases I don't know WHAT to believe! Regarding JFK's murder, I do tend to believe Oswald was the sole gunman, BUT....He did not act alone or IF he acted alone, he was duped by some very clever people. Regarding what I saw on the History Channel that day, the show literally did everything to say LBJ did it. There was a minor and brief controversy, that involved LadyBird Johnson and/or the Johnson estate in the newspaper, and then...POOF! All seemed to be forgotten by everybody, except for me and this initial question, that has sparked this discussion.

All the theories are there to mis lead the public so as to make you look for something in the wrong direction. Those that know the truth can see the bigger plan an where its going.
