You mean get stuck? They do so because we relate, like, love, listen to day in and day out to, love the beat, and sing to the song. I keep singing god hates us by avenged sevenfold over and over because i love that raw feeling of the words coming from my mouth. So, if you love the music you listen to, it sticks.
They relate to SPECIFIC TIMES in our life. Almost the way scents do. Notice how U can rememeber EVERY WORD of a song from 20 yrrs. ago, but can't remember the name of a person U just met? Simple Psychology!
I heard once that sometimes when songs get stuck in your head, it's because you are trying to remember how the rest of the song goes. You know, you can usually only remember part of a song and it just keeps repeating over and over and over and over and over and over again. ;P
Songs get stuck to your head and may play all day long if you approve of the song, because stress in your life is asking to be relieved, and get on with something new, when that phase of playing the song is over, also look for a message in the song that helps you, if not search for another song to get stuck on, LIFE IS TOO SHORT to waste. You can choose the song by correcting to the song you want, keep playing something positive, it might help you, help someone with the Right WORDS.
I read something recently about how the human brain doesn't like incompleteness. Often a song gets stuck in your head when you hear only part of the song. Since you didn't hear the song all the way to the end, the brain won't let go. It just keeps working on it. If you hear the whole song, all the way to the end, the brain let's go, and the song gets 'unstuck'.
you mean stuck IN.... right? LOL "When we listen to a song, it triggers a part of the brain called the auditory cortex. Researchers at Dartmouth University found that when they played part of a familiar song to research subjects, the participants' auditory cortex automatically filled in the rest -- in other words, their brains kept "singing" long after the song had ended [source: Prokhorov]. The only way to "scratch" brain itch is to repeat the song over and over in your mind. Unfortunately, like with mosquito bites, the more you scratch the more you itch, and so on until you're stuck in an unending song cycle."
You can generally get rid of the son in your head for awhile by singing out loud a different song.
all I know is - if they taught everything with music I would be SO intelligent to-day! [ bet it didn't take anyone too long to learn their A B C 's with that little tune ] - now if they had only taught the times table like that, I would have been saved a lot of misery : )
It is possilbe your guardian angels are telling you something. It will feel joyfilled and positive. The songs words, title, chorus or what you are focusing on about the song may have a positive or encouraging message for you. You will feel the message or encouragement with Love. Blessings

I believe it just makes us feel good to have something else to think about and listen to. And with some of us have a hard time with being completely silent so a song usually pops up and than it just sticks so I'm guess ing that most of the time it is because we are kinda bored when we start picking it up
