There are several kinds of speed to consider when buying a camera:

1) Ability to turn the camera on fast and be ready to take a picture instantly

2) Fast response to pressing the shutter button: take the picture instantly when the button is pressed. This is called "shutter lag."

3) Rate of repeat shot-after-shot picture taking. This is called "frames per second" or fps

The first two are not always well quantified and you have to read reviews to get peoples impressions. FPS is often stated right there in the camera specs if you look for it.

Digital cameras in general are much better than they used to be. You're not going to get a lot of shutter lag on any new digital camera, but some may hesitate a fraction of a second more than others.

For excellent speed across all 3, you want a Digital SLR camera. They click on right away, have zero shutter lag, and some of them can take many shots per second. Canon's Rebel line is quite popular and would be a good place to start.

Look for a camera with higher megapixels, image stabilization and Sports Mode features. It's also vital to check on its processor and screen resolution. For more information log on to http://www.bigskyfishing.com/digital-photography/buyers-guide5.php.

Seed is the wrong thing to look at, look for one that has auto focus, high amount of megapixels
