Why can't people learn to spell bored?

I don't mean to be rude, but honestly, this is ridiculous. Board is not the same as bored. They are two different words and I don't understand why they think that words that mean "have nothing to do" and a 2 by 4 are the same. Does anyone know if there's possibly a reason some refuse to learn homophones?

Maybe I'm more than what? I do not always need to be a wiseass, but sometimes the situation calls for it. I too am disgusted by all the people on here that have such a hard time spelling words. It is a scary thing to think that some people can't spell, even with spellcheck :)
Report as
People who have spell check and still spell wrong don't deserve to type.
Report as
YES!! They'd be better off having their hand chopped off and typing with a stump :)

I agree! It's mostly teens, but I'm a teen and I did learn to spell/punctuate correctly. I don't see why they have to replace "you" with "yhu" and similar things. Is it that hard to hit o instead of h?

Most don't care to spell it, since they are on the Internet.

What I don't understand is, why is the Internet any different from writing something down?
Report as
?? Well I mean, it's not like somebody going to grade people on whether they've spelt all the words on their shopping list right. When I misspell things, I go look it up then or later.

Spelling is not being taught, or taught well, in school. There is too much dependency on "spell check" devices! Also, there is a trend toward accepting poor grammar as long as the idea is communicated.

Educational lethargy.
Report as
Exactly! I think spell check is helpful but not to always be completely depended on, which it usually is.

I agree, I mean school is a requirement right? So why not take some initiative and actually attempt to learn something. They might actually benefit from it! What a startling thought...teens trying to learn.
Report as
Yeah, and it's especially ridiculous because most computers have spell check or autocorrect!
Report as
And I agree that people need to try harder to learn in school, especially when it's something as simple as spelling.
