Is it okay to breatfeed from one breast and then pump the other ?

one breast is really sore and when i put the baby to feed it just gets worse so im wondering if its alright just to breastfeed from one breast and just pump the other ? is it okay?

It's okay to breastfeed from one breast. If your child is full off of one, you can pump the other. You should consult a doctor if you feel any sort of sore in your breast.

That is ok, but not being able to nurse on the one needs to be addressed. To get good-sound answers and support on breastfeeding check on the book " The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" and contact the "La Lecha League." You can find them online and you probably have a chapter near you where you can go to meetings with other moms.

Yes you can pump one and nurse on the other. Getting the sore breast checked is a good idea but first you can try some home remedies. Wash both breasts and leave them wrapped in hot towels, as hot as you can stand, then massage. Blocked ducts can be a source of pain, heat steam and massage can help unblock the milk. Remember to spend equal time on each breast. It is possible that the most used breast can become larger then the other which while not a real problem can look odd.
