My guinea pig has a large lump on the side of his neck, what could it be?

Today, I just noticed that my guinea pig has a large lump on the right side of his neck. It would have had to developed this past week. It's not warm, it's not soft, it's not squishy, and nothing is leaking out of it. He doesn't seem to be in pain, he's running around his cage like a normal piggy, he's cleaning himself like a healthy guinea pig would, he's eating and drinking fine, when I touched the strange lump it didn't seem to hurt him, he didn't squel or jerk away or anything. He's acting like a healthy guinea pig, except for that strange lump. I'm not sure what it is though, but my mom and I are going to make an appointment for him and take him to the vet. Btw, he lives in the same enclosure as another male guinea pig, and those are our only 2 current guinea pigs. The other guinea pig is perfectly healthy.

I LOVE Blessthefall to! Okay, a guinea pigs most likely place to get an abcess is on their necks. Should this be the case, the abcess will have to be lanced, drained and cleaned by a veterinarian. Then the cavy, (guinea pig), will need antibiotics. There are also instances where there is a swelling due to enlarged lymph nodes. If the lumps are red and pus-filled it is an abcess that will continue to enlarge without treatment.

Not to upset you, but you did ask. My Sis just had to put hers down. It had a lump just as you say. It was a tumor the vet said he didn't hav long.

I think it may be a cancer... The best thing you can do is ask a vet... I owned 30 guinea pigs and one died from a strange lump, but I was stupid not to ask my vet!

Don't be dumb like I was and ask a vet!!
I hope he/she gets betterS!
