You need to wait long enough for the pierced areas of the ears to completely heel. They should be cleaned and checked everyday to be certain there is no infection. It's better to wait those weeks just to be absolutely sure the ears are completely healed and healthy. Definitely see your doctor if there is any sign of infection or of any other concerns that may have developed.
If your ears are given the okay - have fun picking out an earring for each ear. Just remember to buy your first few pairs in pure metals (at least the part that fits into your ear). This is also important because your ears can have reactions to mixed or cheaper metals that some earrings are made with. If this happens make sure you and your doctor watch this closely. You can still get infections, too. So, be patient when getting your ears pierced. It is best to take that time to be certain your ears are at theirs best to wear those special earrings. Then, a couple weeks later, if you have found some cheaper but still stylish earrings you can give them a try. Good luck, and goodshopping.

No you don't have to wait exactly six weeks. If they are healed completely take them out if you'd like to change them. But if they aren't completely healed make sure to continue rotating and cleaning them everyday.

No about 5-6 weeks.

You can take it off sooner, but the reason to wait six weeks is to let the wound heal completely and keep the new holes in place. If you unplug too early you can either get infections easily or the hole may close itself and you may have to start all over again.

There is a way of removing the starter studs earrings after the piercing but the time to remove them is not specified as it s dependent on an individual. First you need to have clean hands, soak a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and wipe own the lobe thoroughly with the swab, slide the tips under the ridge of the stud to get a firm hold. Pull back on the clasp, towards your body as you turn it then remove the stud portion of the earring by pulling upward from the hole and away from the lobe and wipe down the hole down then you can insert a new earring.

Also keep in mind that heavy earrings will stretch the hole if it is not totally healed. Definitely make sure to sleep with the starter studs in for at least the 6 weeks.
