Yes, It is from The Hunger Game Books, It is a fairly well done movie, And as is the case most of the time, The books are much better.

The Hunger games is novel by Suzanne Collins that speaks about an apocalyptic event in North America that takes place 100 years into the future. The movie is the adaptation of the book and has been directed by Gary Ross.

It is. They made it pretty good, but I'd recommend reading the book first, as it's a whole lot better.
