I am not a Catholic but I certainly know many people who are. I don't know anyone who worships the pope. I admit that I find it curious that many pray to Mary. Personally I believe in going to the SOURCE. But that's what they believe.
As you know by now the Pope is not worshiped but the head of the church. A long time ago with illiteracy the Pope had the authority of the church. This was mainly due to the common person not able to educate themselves through the Bible. But by Luther's time more people were able to and challenged to read and understand the Bible themselves which shifted the authority from the pope to the Bible (if you are Protestant). So Catholics do not worship the Pope no more than we worship the Bible. It is just a matter of were we believe the authority lies. God bless
What they do is a form of worship, just like praying to “saints” and having priests talk to God for them. It’s a corrupted for of Christianity that contradicts its self constantly. They believe that idol worship is a sin yet they pray to the pope and the saints which is idol worship. The veil was torn so that we all have direct contact with God yet they say a priest needs to intercede for them. Much of what they do isn’t biblical but based on traditions that has been passed down from the guy that started it. This man (forget his name but he was a leader of some kind) started this hierarchy of church leaders and put himself at the head to better control the people and in the process corrupted Christianity. Just as a BTW the biblical meaning of saints is anyone who is a follower of Christ, no one need to vote on your holiness, if you believe you’re a saint. That’s how far away from the bible Catholicism has gotten but sadly most of them do not read the bible to find this out, they just listen to the priest then go home.
