Is it possible to sue a cop for putting me in jail for something that I didn't do?

I was put in jail last night for having drugs in my purse but earlier my friend admitted to throwing it into my purse. no matter what I did the cop said I had to stay in jail. he wouldn't even take a drug test. Could I sue him for it? don't call me dumb, I am just wondering...

No! Like it or not, you did do it! The drugs were in your purse, that makes them yours under the law! If you go to court, you'll be convicted, too!
If you sue, you'll be laughed out of court!
Get better friends!!

I don't find this mean at all. It's true. If you don't want to be responsible for what your friends are up to... stay away. Whether or not you think you really were, you were in posession of drugs. Your friend got you into this. Sue your friend. She was the one at fault here.

You cannot sue him because; he was just doing his work. You however can consult a lawyer as you can still build a case against the police officer. Sometimes policemen are known to be subjective or objective, which can cloud their judgements.

No; if you did, I think you'd get thrown out of court in a heart beat. The police probably thought someone was either lying or at least not being completely truthful, and they needed some time to check things out further. Might be a good idea to not hang out with that "friend" anymore; someone puts illegal drugs in my purse, I wouldn't be thinking of that person as a friend.

You were found to be in possession of an illegal substance. Even if your friend admits to putting it there the police are going to keep both of you in custody until they can determine exactly what happened. I feel bad for your experience but the police were just doing their jobs. Save your anger for your "friend" who set you up in the first place.

You were in possession of a controlled substance. This is probable cause for an arrest. You need a lawyer to help with the case against you. Forget suing the police officer. He did the right thing under the circumstances. I believe you need better friends
