He was a Civil Rights leader who believed in Non-violence and demonstrations as did Ghandi. Like all humans he had many good things that he did and some negative aspects as well. He is considered a modern day hero because of his stance for racial justice and for non-violence His graduate papers are housed at Boston University Numerous people have tried to obtain creditable positions in the Civil rights arena because of their association with Dr King, but most lack his honesty and leadership
He was a man who saw a great wrong and, instead of just maintaining the status quo, sincerely asked "why" in a manner that made others wake up and look. I was a WASP teen at the time, and I respect him for his stand!!
