Cause i went to the audition and they said that i passed that all my mom had to pay for was for my pictures and my spot and they told her that she had to make 3 payments of 100 and my mom only gave $60 just to save the spot. IF ANY ONE KNOWS IF AUDITION AMERICA IS A SCAM PLEASE LET ME KNOW CAUSE MY MOM SAID THAT IT DOESN'T MATTER IF SHE LOST $60 PUT SHE DOESN'T WANT TO GIVE MORE MONEY AWAY IF THIS IS GOING TO BE WORTHLESS!

Audition America is a new talent agency that is coming up. However, you should never give money to any legitimate agency or audition. Furthermore, no agency will ever charge you for a portfolio. You only get to have a portfolio once you have signed a contract.

Hi I went there too for my 4 years old daughter in Arizona mills Mall. I filled up the form and they contact me to call my daughter for audition. They asked my daughter to go to walk on the stage with the spring outfit. So I dressed her up with the spring outfit. And later on they gave the paper that said my daughter is passed. And they talked to me n my husband personally, They said congratulation n my daughter has to do photo session next and we have to pay $297. And I said can u give me time to discuss? and they said NO. They couldn't wait. They want the answer right away. And they kept trying to said my daughter is so cute, very talented. So finally we paid them at the time. And in the receipt they said NO REFUND. And the next week after that, They asked my daughter to bring 2 outfits for the photo session. And after that, they gave us the yellow small paper that said for the final my daughter has to come with the t-shirt that they gave. And it said that the kids under 5 years old doesn't need to perform their talent, just show off, and if we want the record CD, we have to pay $30. And they said we can't record with our own video camera. We have to customize that t-shirt.
And finally last Saturday ( April 21 , 2012 ) We came back to the mall and lots of finalists over there.
They asked us to do register to get the number to come up to the stage. And in the paper, they had optional, Do we want to record it to the CD or No. And I choose NO. And I gave it back to them. And when they want to give the number ( badge ), they asked me, " So what she ( my daughter ) want to perform? What is her talent ? "? And I said " in the paper if the kids under 5 years old, she doesn't need to do talent show, just show off". And the guy said She has to ! We have 2 session, the first session is for talent show, and the second one is fashion show. So everybody have to do that. But my daughter was not prepare anything for the talent show. And they asked my daughter to sing. The song that my daughter knew which is the kids song. A

And they said fine. And they asked me, why did I choose NO for the record to the CD? How come the agency can see her talent? I kept saying No, that's fine. But the guys kept trying to say that if i didn't pay, my daughter can't go to the stage.
So I paid the $30.
Now I m so regret. They kinda force me to pay them. They didn't let me to think at all.
I don't think they are real. I think they just want to make money !!!!!
Oh Well.... be careful guys ! Now What can I do? They gave the portfolio books but it's really like regular photo book like usually ordered by online. Nothing special !
And quality of the pictures doesn't look like professional at all !

You aren't paying for the portfolio. You're paying for the pictures so you can have them and the copywrites to them. Would you walk into Sears or JC Penny or Olan Mills and expect to get pictures taken for free? People's time and film have to be compensated.
Report as
not if they are a SCAM!!!! i would refuse to compensate a dime

For my understanding no one can force you to buy or sell anything, my daughter did this as well and I was not forced to buy the DVD or all her pictures. I just got what I wanted not what they wanted me to get, sorry to hear that.

Audition America is not an agency. They are talent scouts who are connected to the agency world. The money you pay are for you photos taken with them. That's the only legitimacy I have seen so far in my own investigation of this company. I entered my two year old but I never paid for what they required because I see scam in it myself.

Hi, We also went there & asked for $150 right away! We had an issue so I tried calling headquarters & I called them 4x with 2 different numbers & we kept getting hung up on. So I called the manager back, that's at the Mall & demanded a refund, which she says they do not REFUND! But the Manager says she will send me a check in the mail! I was told they are leaving in 2 weeks, so I told her I better receive in 1 week, & she told me..." She won't be pressured into anything & hung up on me...!!! SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO ME!!! Also Headquarters is located in Florida somewhere??? & The Manager's phone number came up on my phone "as a Georgia call!!!" ???

We asked before my daughter did her first "audition" if anyone was going to try to sell us anything and the manager said "no, we only charge $10 for the copyright to her photographs". I said "why does she need photographs because she is auditioning for dance". They said she has to do the catwalk to make sure she doesn't have stage fright and then she would get called back for dance. This made no sense to me but I let my daughter do the catwalk since it didn't cost anything. Then they get these kids hopes up telling then they are one of 6 kids who got picked. Picked to pay $400 for photos. And if you don't buy the photos the kids can't go any further. Your kid walks away telling you he/she hates you for not paying the $400 needed to make them a star. This is so, so wrong. Don't fall for it. They are scamming kids. Its awful.

I was recently in audition america, and the money they ask for is for your own needs, which are the photo shoot for pictures which can come in handy if you audition for another scouting agency or casting. you also get the portfolio for free that comes along with the package, so its for your own purpose. In the end you compete to win the contract. I myself won the contract and the pictures that you need are required for the headshots that you need so it actually good that you do that, also you pay nothing to the agency once your signed, the only thing that you do is that they take 20% of your paycheck if you get a modeling/acting job booked. I do no think its a scam

It is a scam I audition and they passed everybody they say they audition 4000 people and its comes down to 400 people because only 400 hundred people payed there money to do the photo shoot I have this local picture studio and they take as many pictures as needed and you can change your outfirtsas m=uch as you want for less than 200 dollars! I'm better off getting my own portfilo and sending them off my self to agencys!

My sons just got through the first round and they are both very handsome boys and Im not just saying that because I am biased. Anyway since they are brothers the profile will only cost 150. The agent got really excited and kept saying I will get to say I was the agent for "the next pampers babies". nimi101 could you tell me more about them. I don't want to go in blind and since you dealt with them Id really love your advice on how things go.

well I do not know if it is just a scam for picture money or not but I signed up for the small $150 package. I figure even if it is a scam I can always use the pics for her pageant portfolio. If it turns out it is not a scam then great but why not take the chance. Any agency you contact in this field will tell you that there are costs for getting started.

BIG SCAM...Yes you can pay for pictures because that is all your getting but anybody can take pictures that look like WAL-MART quality. I have been a victim of falling pray to unethical people like this company. I took my son for an audition that took 3 hours and had to wait for the results of his performance. I was told he passed to the next round by the judge that looks like a teenager with no experience which by the way is also the PROFESSIONAL (YEAH RIGHT) photographer. Please people save your money for your kids college tuition and take pictures by a professional and not some clown!

They are and they aren't. Their goal is to sell photo "portfolio's" with high pressure sales methods. they do just that. They lure people in with the promise of an "audition" that suddenly turns into a compeition. You can't progress without buying a profolio right then and there. However the qaulity of the photos are average. You can go into wall-mart and get better shots.

Speaking of shots, you should never have to pay for a modeling portolio.
A "REAL" agency will take care of that for you. Also from what I've observed, they don't find closed shoots. The jobs they told me about were all open calls in the area that I already knew about anyhow.

They may not do refunds, but your state may have commerce laws that overide
their company policy (mine did). They will be giving you the run around in hopes that you forget about the refund which is what my currrent problem with them is.

You can never ask too many questions..I say just check out anyone you are going to give out money to. "Remember a scam is where someone says they will do or give you something and you never get it. If they say they are going to take pictures then of course you should receive photos for the fee that was agreed upon.

Good Lord, do you even know what you are talking about? They are not a scam, I did this with my kids personally. You decided to do the most expensive thing they have. The shots are only 10 each for copyrights which you need to use the pictures for headshots. I have gone to glamour shots and they wont even give me copyrights and one 8 x 10 print costs 150.00. Please don;t knock things before you do them.I would like to refute the report as Audition America being a scam. My kids had an awesome time at the event. They even won contracts and have done work from the event in TV, Print, and Film/ Each day, I am able to apply for jobs that are already listed with my agency who Audition America linked me to through their event. I am very greatful for the wonderful opportunity!

Scam: If you are promised something and you do not get it. I was told they would take photos and given to options of photos and prices. I was given photos and told why I needed them. In this industry you will need photos. I was awarded a contract and now I am able to look for castings on their casting board. It is a great opportunity. I would recommend to anyone who wants to be a model or actor, singer, dancer.

People... any LEGIT company that sees the ability to make money off of you will INVEST in you. This "Well, you can't submit a portfolio that you already have, you have to get it done through us" is BS. I've been through several scams in NYC and NOLA. Any company that requests money up front is a SCAM. Any company that additionally requests commission off your work is also a scam. Legit agencies make their money from booking and investing in you.
I went to this "audition" yesterday in Kenner, LA... it was thrown together with what seemed like teenage promotional models and car salesmen. They may not even know they're a part of this scam, but i'm sure they're being paid for their time. If 5 people per audition buy the $300 2-look portfolio shoot, they've more than covered their costs. A solid portfolio can be built through TFP work (time for print, if you're new to this) with professional photographers who charge you nothing and give you EVERY image they shoot. Don't get pulled in with the old "we'll make you a star!" gimmick.
The people on here who are refuting this scam were more than likely either hired by the company to do so OR really just don't know any better.

YES!!!! Definitely a scam. dont want to give youy your money back after they pressure you into a quick decision. Like they said you should never be charged for a portfolio and after the manager told me if my daughter vwanted to continue on I couldnt be there!!! For something I already paid for. And I am a single mother there is no one else to represent her!!! Oh yeah they said another adult then when I brought someone who was 18 they then changed it to someone that was over 21. Can you imagine the millions theyre making off of people. Theres gotta be a way to stop them

The photos are not great. You can go on craisgslist and contact a local freelance photographer who will charge you for less and do a better job (that's what I did after I've received the photos from them). TRUST ME, THIS WHOLE THING IS TO GET MONEY THROUGH PEOPLE THROUGH PHOTOS and MAKE THEM HOPE FOR NOTHING.

Even if they send you a contract in the mail you will not get anywhere! Think about, this is not a local agency. They are based somewhere god knows where since they have different area codes and no human to talk to on the phone. So, let's say, an agency in their local area needs you and you are in Minnesota. Do you think they will pay to fly you in and pay your hotel to shoot for 2 or 3 hrs ? No way! They will just give them another person who lives in their area. All you'll get from these people if you get a contract are e-mails about auditions in your local area and you are on own with $$$ waisted!!

THIS IS A BIG SCAM! I wish I had read this blog before I went there. Actually, I pretended i wanted to do it myself to see how things work. After my catwalk they told me congratulations you've passed but to move forward I had to pay $297 on the spot to get my 30 pix taken. They really pressured me to pay and told me that if i don't purchase now and were to come back later the cost will be $350. Then I've paid for it, after I've signed I saw no refund at the bottom. I was so pissed, then the guy told me that I have the option to transfer the money to someone. After reading the yellow thing at home I found that there was a cheaper option for $150 which he had covered with his other hand and never mentioned it. I went later to the mall and had them split the funds between my two kids. Continued...

Do you think they will pay to fly you in and pay your hotel to shoot for 2 or 3 hrs ? No way! They will just give them another person who lives in their area. All you'll get from these people if you get a contract are e-mails about auditions in your local area and you are on own with $$$ waisted!!

Yes!! they're a scam I PERSONALLY worked for them far to long to know what they do! they're the same that used to be called AMERICAN MALL MODEL SEARCH a huge scam agency, they changed their name because people were after them from lawsuits to giving them a bad name. they're a family owned business they're ALL RELATED. they switch names around and the woman appear now with their maiden name to disguise it a little. This company is shortly to crash they're BAD BUSINESS, they run it without a business license and they also refer you to a printing company to do your headshots after u win a so called "contract" that EVERYONE wins (higher chance for them to make more money) they are the SAME PRINTING COMPANY "PRO-CARDS" located in a small room right in the office. Procards isnt another company they are affiliated with, they are THEM! They charge $150.00 at the stage for a bogus audition, then wait for a contract in the mail and then u pay for another $300 as per MODEL PRODUCTIONS but again they are also MODEL PRODUCTIONS and the cards that are sent back to them as they say are only recycled and not put to use unless u are over 5'9 in height and weight 100 pounds!

A scam is when you pay for a service or product you don't receive and are promised things that aren't possible. 1. I am a photographer myself, and a portfolio they are offering cost way more than that. 2. They don't guarantee you a job.
If you are getting quality prints that you can use with other agencies as well as the ones they are working with you have a very good deal even if you don't get a job through them. It is up to the talent to sell themselves no matter who is the agent. I went with my granddaughter expecting a scam and did not see one. But I have worked in entertainment many years and understand the process.
BTW, not everyone was asked to stay and buy a portfolio. I worked in casting before and knew exactly who was good and who wasn't ready yet. The group they sent home was not ready. If it had been a scam they would have accepted everyone to collect the money. They sent home over a dozen and kept three. That tells me they know what they are looking for. If your child isn't picked it doesn't mean they aren't good enough. It just means they weren't prepared enough. In this business you need to have a thick skin as well as looks, personality and charm.

Its not a scam, the only thing you should worry about is if they don't give you the pictures.
If you take the time to research acting/ modeling, they will all say that yes, your going to need to take head shots and have a decent portfolio when you go to audition for a movie or photo shoot. Then later for bigger agencies, there going to need a demo reel which Audition America is showing them free of charge on your part.
I'm just now starting in the competitions and I only have to pay 150$ for the basic package. If you lose, you have head shots, get your ass out there and look yourself except for whining about how much of a "scam" they were.
People are ignorant and scared about things they don't understand or know about, and the scouts are fed up with wasting there time and resources with idiots who are star struck and wont listen. That's why they hang up on people who want to bitch constantly, they don't have time to listen to you while there trying to get another pretty face out there in the biz.

Yes they are a scam and I am going to make sure that everybody knows I'm trying to get this on the news! I have done my research and this audition America which is supposedly a scouting team who are trying to find models and actors are not really trying to do so but instead are trying to take people's money by using their dreams against them. I have seen that this Audition America. ) is very similar to America mall model search aka AMMS. AMMS was also a scam. They are both very similar you put you name on a paper and put it in a box thinking what are the odds of you being called.. Someone will call or text you stating that you have gotten an audition and the during your audition you will say a line that they have picked out and then walk down a very small runway.. After they will announce the winners which be 90% of the people who came if not all then they will have you stand in line then have you look on their web site on your phone to see their testimonials on their site as if they were trying to prove themselves real. When you are finally seen by one of the so call directors they will say you pass and then ask you to pay three payments of 99 dollars but will accept the 99 dollars the same day to hold your spot in the finals that they claim they are having. These people are being manged by model productions. None of these people are agents nor are they professionals which they claim to be. They are not professional photographers or anything close to it. By the way if you read one of audition american testimonials they are thanking a director named Kendrick Gordon which was also a director in america mall models search. I have found these sites will people's comments about their experience. Some have good things to say about these so called scouts but I believe it's just one of the people that work for them. Model productions is owned by a family here are some names Lance, April, Doug, Bill, and Carol. They have done a lot of stealing to many innocent people who are just trying to achieve their dreams they are just horrible. This is a website where they show their true colors as their ex-employers get tired of their b.s http://www.ripoffreport.com/beauty-pageants/justin-choquette/justin-choquette-photograghy-jfcdb.htm and here are some other websites with others opinions http://www.ask.com/answers/118558221/is-audition-america-a-scam-i-recently-just-auditioned-there-and-they-asked-for-money-right-after-the-audition-for-a-portfolio-for-300# , http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/american-mall-model-search-lake-grove-new-york-c428060.html

My daughter went through the audition process a few weeks ago at our local mall. I received and email this morning stating that they would like to offer a one year contract to us. If we go with the one year contract, what happens? Do they find jobs for you or do you look for the jobs yourself? What is this about?

If you receive a one year contract they hook you up with an agency and they send u a username and password for their website which has all of the auditions posted and then you just choose which auditions you want to go to. Also that is why you need headshots and a portfolio; for auditions.

That is a little excessive. I can absolutely say most of the directors don't know that the owners of the company are scamming them by making them believe they are helping and changing people's lives. When really they are pulling all of the strings and lying to there faces. I know because I personally worked there for two years. I believed I was helping people and building their confidence. I was blind. And then I learned the owners were taking all of that money and using it for stupid expensive Stuff for thereselves, not for the contestants benefit. So I quit. A whole lot of directors are leaving because they are just finding out how horrible the people are that own that company. They are fake, evil people. :(

I just have auditioned with them today. As a professional model, who has been to castings number of times, I brought a rather extensive high quality portfolio with me (images were featured in magazines). Since their pamphlet gives an option to check "I have a professional portfolio and resume" (means you don't have to pay for a shoot) - so that's what I said. The answer was, - Have you booked any jobs? - Yes. I have my portfolio with me. - Could I see it, please? - Yes, here it is. A lady looked over all of the pictures in there and said, - Have they been approved by the agency? ( ???? goes through my mind... why do they need to be approved by any agency??) The next she says, - Well, you know, you have to come over tomorrow and have your images taken. We will take them with us to see if they get approved. (??? goes through my head again... why can't they take images that I have brought???) At that point it seemed to me that either I pay and make the next step or no money - no honey... Having read all other reviews it does sound pretty much like it's a SCAM. Otherwise why to take more pictures of me when I have presented tons of them at the casting??? Kiss my $50 goodbye... :(

Honestly I'm not sure if it's scam or not. Real agencies don't charge anything upfront for pictures, classes, etc. HOWEVER, Audition America is NOT an agency, but scouts that offer a website with castings that can only by accessed AFTER winning their contract. The website is GoModelShop.com. I don't know if the claim about everyone getting a contract is true, but at least I got one. Yup, I recently won a contract myself and I've used the website to answer to casting calls. So far I've gotten two replies saying they were interested in me :D I can't make it to one, but I believe I've been hired by the second offer (a commercial) since they just called me and want to know my available schedule. If there's people saying it's a scam because they never received their photos or videos, I don't know what to say because I received everything. The pictures they take don't seem professional, but they work for the website and as starting pictures. If you guys have more questions about anything there's this legit site that answers like every question about working in the industry:

http://www.joeedelman.com/modeling-industry/

I found it today while googling some things. It helped me a lot!

I auditioned and they even said i stood out the most and i get a chance for high fashion modeling too. I have attended the modeling school and that was kind of a scam for so much money. An agent even told me personally. I do not think audition america is a scam because a real agent even told me that if someone wants you you will not have to pay to be with them but the one thing no agent will pay for is your portfolio. That is what you have to pay for. and Originally it would range from $1,000-$5,000 for a professional portfolio. I think it is a good deal, whether you make it further or not.

I filled out the form around Christmas 2012 and they called about a month ago for me to bring my seven year old for auditions the next day. We did just that and they asked us for three payments of $50. The first before we leave and the second the next day at the photo shoot. The when the photos were ready they call for us to pick them up. When we picked them up we are to pay the last payment of $50 or she would not be able to be in the finals.
The Photo came on a CD that I now have to pay to print out for her picture and bring the photos to the talent show for finals.
Look I am a single mother and clean houses for a living and hardly making it as it is. I know for a fact my daughter is beautiful and talented in many was. I just wanted her to have things that I never had. I did not think of this to be a scam.
Her Show is this Saturday at the mall and we are going. God will take charge in what ever the plan. We have to except things for what it is even our mistakes. Can't say we didn't try.
I Pray that it becomes something positive and not a fraud.

Well, I just left Penn Square and I "passed" the audition. Thank God my daughter came to support me for she brought me back to earth. More than this organization perhaps being a scam, they appeal to the ego of many parents and young adults, offering them a chance to do something different with their lives. They prey on the dreams and hopes of so many and then POW! there is money involved. As my daughter reminded me, agencies that want you will pay for your portfolio. RUN, don't walk, away from these dream busters.

Usually a scam is when you pay money for a product or service that you never receive. I paid the $150 and I received pictures on the day of the talent/fashion show, but after my children participated in Georgia a couple of weeks ago I started researching the company. I pulled up the address that is on the Audition America website and put it in on google earth and it comes up on the corner of the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale mall. I could not find a listing of their company inside the mall or around it. I also found it odd that every time I called their office in Ft Lauderdale which was on several different occasions, the same woman answered the phone every single time no matter when I called. The talent scout who conducted the audition gave out cards with their number on it but they never seem to answer the phone or return phone calls. If they are running a scam nothing good will come from it God can handle people a whole lot better than we can. unfortunately they will have taking a lot of money from a lot of people, but they never really promised you anything more than photos and a chance to show your talent and fashion which you had a choice to do it or not.

THIS IS A COMPLETE SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went in to my local mall filled out the paperwork required, and dropped it in the talent search box. About three days later I got a call from a woman who represented the company and she told me to do an interview and audition for the company. Two days later, I went in and did the interview and auditioned for her. After the audition was over, she pulled me backstage and told me my results and said that I was going to be very good in the industry and that she wanted me to go to state finals. She gave me a shirt and said we had to pay for a photo shoot. We paid $150 for 15 photos. We have never retrieved the photos after 4 months. Every time we call the headquarters, they never answer and if they do answer it is an automatic machine. A complete waste of money and very disappointed. Don't fall for this trick like I have done. THIS IS A SCAM!!! I just "auditioned" in the Northridge Mall in Northridge, California with them today and it is definitely a scam because you should not have to pay for photos if they are also finding you work. The cost of pictures should be totally paid in its entirety by Audition America because even though they find work for you and help you to make money, you are also helping them to make money because they get a percentage of what you make since they found the work for you. I could also tell by their tactics. After the auditioning process, everything was about the money. There was a lot of pressure to pay something toward the total amount which was a few hundred dollars. I charged twenty and later I knew I was scammed. I called the card company to dispute the charge.

DO NOT BE SUCKERED BY AUDITION AMERICA

They said they would "Sponsor" my daughter if I paid for my son's photos. My son didn't like it and decided not to do it, and they told me I couldn't take pictures without both of them? It is a scam. Sponsor means THEY pay for it. Not you. They are courteous and nice, but its all about the money. I can get pictures at Olan Mills for 20 dollars and have a person that's better with kids, more professional, and willing to cut a deal. Don't get pulled in. Its fun to go up there and walk the cat walk and show off, but you don't HAVE to pay them for that. Get your photos somewhere else and send them in yourself. It's a lot cheaper and you have a better chance of getting what you want. I work in a law office, this is my professional opinion.

So far he has been in 4 national commercials, 2 print ads, and done back ground for 2 movies. Aside from spending the $5 a month and 59 cents for pictures... I haven't spent any other money. If a place says you need headshots, they are right. But once they say where you need to go, and its going to cost you $150, then you have to pay $350 for their acting classes....Sorry but there is only one way to put this: they are FULL OF SHIT!

This is the biggest scam ever! They literally approach ever child and say they could be a model. I went to a few of their events and saw kids, and adults perform. Some were good, but a great deal were not. Almost everyone was told that they made it through. For what? They tell you that you made it through and then you have to VOLUNTEER your time. They call this an internship. You are basically there to lie to other kids and parents to get them to be scammed just like you were. And when the people ask, " what have they gotten you, you're response is nothing yet, because I'm interning. But something is in the works. I know that a guy, who did this in New York, has a friend, whose cousin's, uncle's brother's, chef's nephew got a major modeling job.

Sadly Audition America is Model Productions, which is also the American Mall Model Search, the casting card company they recommend is also theirs, ProCards Printing, The "High Fashion Photographers" from the mystery studio, Flash Photography, is also them. It's a family run business that continues to change their company name to avoid issues. The family name is Waldbueser. Check the entire family out, Bill, Doug, Ashley, April, Lance, & Danielle Waldbueser. Their married daughters name is Lisa Oates & her husband is Johnny Oates.

Yes, It's a SCAM! I "Auditioned" At the Northridge Fashion Center Oct.19, 2013. They asked what did for living I told them I had a Master's in counseling from Cal State Northridge! They Figured I could pay $297. They said you won now pay us. I said I don't get paid til Wednesday. and went home I' m 48 and in wheelchair. I have pretty face and have classic New England style, but I think the reason I won was they thought I could afford to pay them! My biggest mistake was telling them my mother and my brother had been a movie extra so I always wanted to try. They knew I was hooked. Thank God I had no money to give them at the time!
