I do think that once we envision or see something with our eyes....especially when it comes to porn, etc. it's very difficult to get rid of. It sticks. That's why it's so important to NOT look at it. But, I think there is always hope. Scripture says that we need renew our minds from glory to glory. This isn't something that happens overnight. From day to day, even minute to minute, we have to choose on what we think about. We do have a choice in this. We all need to do this...even if it's not about lust. It can be negative thoughts of others or ourselves. We have to turn the station in our mind, so to speak and think of things that are pure and good. When my daughter is scared at night when going to bed, I tell her to think of things she likes, such as horses and pastures. When you are having a lustful thought, switch your mind into thinking of something that is pure and good. The more we practice this, the more our minds get renewed and one day, we find those old bad thoughts don't come on much anymore. :) Good luck!
Ummmm you could start working on some new ones, that should keep the old ones away. Other than that, just keeping busy might help. I have never found a cure for lustful memories, don't know that I want to.

The best way to think about something constantly is to try to not think about it. Accept that you're human, you have sexual urges that are perfectly healthy, and think about what you want. Establish your own limits for what you feel is a normal amount of time to think about these things (never is impossible, thinking about it nonstop all day might be too much). No matter what or how much you think sexual thoughts, you still have the power to either act or not act on those thoughts. Just don't act on anything that would hurt yourself or others, and you're ok. Seriously, don't beat yourself up for having sexual thoughts. It's normal. Repression is unhealthy...look at all the trouble celibate Catholic priests get into with abusing minors.
