Is there a difference between signature by Strauss and just Levi Jeans

I went to buy my sons jeans and I bought Levi's for $40 but when I look on line at Walmart they have Signature by Strauss a lot cheaper. I Levi Strauss was the same thing. Am I wrong?

Both jeans are made by the Levi Strauss company at their own production plants. If you look on the inside tag the jeans will tell you where they were actually manufactured. There are minor differences between them however. The most notable being the lack of the red tag on the Wal-Mart Levis. Some stitching differences exist and the fit may not be exactly the same. I am not sure if this is due to the stitching or an actual structural change. I wear the Wal-Mart Levis to work in and my red tab ones to live in. The Wal-Mart ones are perfectly dependable for work and of much more quality and better fit than I have found wrangler or Lee to be in the same circumstances. On many occasions I get the red tab and the Wal-Mart pairs mixed up! Who cares? As long as I like what I am wearing and they do their job, I am happy.

I think there is a difference between the two in their signature since their companies are outside the country after its San Antonio Company closed down, that's why there is difference in prices. Levis are believed to be made in China while Levi Strauss is made in Vietnam.

There's a big difference, Levi 505 is way better and last longer.

"Strauss Signature" is the low-end brand that Levi's has started making with lower-quality fabric & stitching for sale at reduced prices through stores like Wal-Mart. If you try on five pairs of Strauss jeans of the same "size" you'll find they don't all fit exactly the same like Levi's traditional jeans do.

If you're on a tight budget (as I am), the smart thing to do isn't to buy the cheapo Strauss jeans, but to hop onto eBay and get used traditional Levi's that are in good or excellent condition. Not only will that save you buckets of money, but you'll get higher-quality jeans that last longer, especially if you go with oldschool 100% cotton fabric. (If you're a woman, this also lets you wear the old comfortable styles like 550s that follow your shape without being tight.)
