Why do you continue to show questions that are closed?

I just went to answer a question about a parent allowing her daughter to have a boyfriend-a recent question but already closed-no more answers are being accepted. So why do you have it up as available to answer? When I go to answer a question, I don't expect it to be closed if its right up there with other OPEN questions. WHY do you do this? Seems like a waste of time.

Do you have a link?

Actually is it this one? http://www.ask.com/answers/112773461/should-i-let-my-daughter-have-a-boyfriend

Because if it's that one - you already answered it, which is why it's not letting you answer it again.

If it's not that one, and you can get a link to the one that it is, let me know in comments, and I'll have someone take a look at it, since it shouldn't be closed.

Thanks!! :)

Hey too2, how long are questions open now? I saw a 7 month old question that is still open.

We recently changed it so that questions stay open indefinitely. Lots more fun to be had by all!! :)

Personally I don't like the change, but I guess it's not all about me. ;)

I think it will be interesting to see how it goes.

On the one hand we've had a lot of users who are frustrated when then encounter a question that they can't answer, on the other it does seem a bit strange to be answering something that may potentially be a year old. Though I can see opportunities in that as well, because occasionally I've come across older stuff where the answer given isn't necessarily horrible, but it could be improved upon with additional information, so I'm looking forward to being able to add to things like that.

Not to mention with Ask being a search engine as well, and the Q&A showing up in search results, it makes more sense to allow people to add to that when necessary for more relevant results.

Why not have an archives section? They stay live for 30 days, then move to the archives.
