As of May 2011, the value of an 1864 Indian Head Penny was estimated to be $19. The Indian head penny from the year 1859 to 1864 included 88 percent copper and 12 percent nickel but this was distorted to 95 percent copper and 5 percent of a tin and zinc alloy in 1864.
