How can I tell what nationality I am?

My mom and dad divorced when I was 2 and my dad passed away when I was 10. My mom and I don't get along and my mom refuses to let me see her birth certificate and I can't get ahold of my father's birth certificate. I only know that my great-great grandfather on my mom's side is Austrian and my great-grandmother on my father's side is from Romania. I'm doing a report for school and it would be nice to know that I look like a certain nationality. I have red hair, blue eyes, and white skin with freckles but NONE of my family is Irish. I have a small face with a rounder jaw, a small nose that kind of juts upwards, and small eyes. Is there a website that can help me out without having my rents birth certificates?

Features don't go a long way in determining your ancestry. If you don't have access to family that can help you then you may want to try a genealogy site. This would take too long for a report in school, but National Geographic has a DNA analysis program that can identify your deep roots. Not free, but you would find some good answers.

You could have differentiated looks from your families ethnicity, and look Irish. I am not certain what nationality you are, but you could look at this website. Tell your mother about the report for school, and she will most likely change her mind because it is for educational purposes, and it counts for your grade.

Your heritage is very important, so ask your mother exactly why she isn't letting you see the birth certificates. Good luck! :)
