Real atheists do not believe in any sort of spirituality whatsoever. Not karma, fate, a God, etc- nothing. Many dont believe in hope as well. There is no praying, because it doesn't exist. THINGS ARE AS THEY ARE. It doesn't have anything to do with ANY spiritual entities/theory. So far it seems like people get atheism confused with being "free-spirited" or what have you. Whether your a believer or not I'm pretty sure we ALL generally want peace, happiness, and all that shiza too. If one will believe after sight, you can't expect them to give their wishes blindly.... damn, that was a good quote, I gotta trademark it...
I live freely, love, laugh and try to have a good time with what I've got. As for beliefs I believe in evolution. Please realize that most atheist like myself won't have a problem with your religion as long as you don't push it on us.
I don't pray, I don't believe in a god, Not during a funeral and not when I want something. If there were a god why do such bad things happen to good people or to innocent children? Don't say it's part of gods plan either. Give me proof. Do you have any idea how many times the bible itself has been re-written?? I'm a realist. I'm a good man, a loving husband and father. My life is great, I don't feel I'm "missing something". I wake up happy and go to bed happy. If people need god to keep them on the right path, more power to them.
I believe that everyone should be treated as equals. I believe that everyone should be allowed to believe how they want as long as they don't try to force their beliefs on others, especially concerning government and laws. I believe that we are here on earth for a short amount of time and that I want my life and the people I love to have the best life possible. I believe that when we die, we're gone... forever. I believe in an eye for eye. I'm sure there's more, but that's the jist of it.
I believe in a life force that I simply call Energy. Positive, Negative, and neutral energies. Hind of the same principle as the Trinity; 3 in 1. I believe that positive and negative energy is what fuels our lives and neutral energy is the glue that holds everything together. So, for me positive and negative energy is good and bad, light and dark, yen and yang. Now for neutral energy, think of molecules. All mater are molecules held together by neutral energy. The harder the object the denser the molecules are held together by neutral energy. I also believe that thoughts, words, concepts, ideas and other intangible things are either positive or negative energy. My only problem with this belief is that there is no "communion" as far as a group of people that get together and worship. Hope this helps. By the way, I don't consider my self an Atheist.
I'm a long-time atheist. I believe in making a contribution in the world and in my own community. I believe in zero-tolerance for violence against people and animals. I believe in doing no harm in the world. I believe that equality is important and I work towards that every day. I believe that I must promote tolerance and peace everyday. I believe in respect toward all peoples and that respectful dialogue can only take place in an environment where religious beliefs are not part of the format. I believe that religious leaders, and any other person who interferes in the integrity of a child's body for sexual purposes, or any other purpose, should be held in jail for a long, long time. I believe that honesty in all things, including business and my personal life, is essential. I believe it is essential to treat everyone decently. Inclusive harmony is a goal and an ideal. No religious dogma, or salesmen of God, is required to accomplish all this. You can be good without God, and I am proof of that.
I think people should be decent and helpful to each other not because some God or church tells me that's how its supposed to be, but because that's how I would like to be treated. The whole point of being an atheist is NOT believing, so asking us our beliefs is kind of an oxymoron. But most atheists I know share my views, that you treat people how you would like to be treated and (hopefully) that comes back to you eventually. I don't believe there is a God. But that doesn't mean I'm blind, and I can see every day that people who are mean and ugly to others eventually get what's coming to them. We believe what we can see and touch and feel instead of what somebody in a fancy robe tells us to believe.
Good question. I personally have decided to not be religious. After 20 years of being catholic and raised that way I found the people of religion to be some of the most judge mental Hippocrates I've ever meet so I've taken what was taught to me from that religion and just applied to my life now. I show everyone as much respect as they show me and live a good life. I don't judge based on the way someone dresses or acts until they disrespect me or my family. All said I do feel there is "something" more powerful then myself and maybe some would call that god. For me I just refer to it as life. Treat others with respect and receive respect. If there is a god I will be judged on how I lived my life at that point and if not then I lived a nice life. I just don't see the need to go to a building every Sunday and listen to some preacher talk about the same thing every week and tell me if I do this or that I'm going to burn in hell! Then when he's done give him my hard earned money!!! I hear that the lord gives hope and helps you along the way. But nobody helping me so I just go about my day trying to earn a buck and keep bills paid. My question for all the religious folk out their who say they don't judge us how do you judge the people that won't make it to your kingdom in heaven? How does your "faith" get you there? And what if YOU don't make the cut? In that case was all your effort pushing your religion on others and all your judgements on others worth it?
I believe in the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Life, love, happiness, peace, respect and animals! I believe animals should be treated as humanely as people! I do not want a funeral! I want to be cremated! I saw the earlier comments; I don't wish or pray for anything because they're both a waste of time!
I am an empathetic atheist and really truly honest to god I have no beliefs in anything at all. My thinking is that there are only measurable testable probabilities. -- if you're interested this question has been asked several times today and I have given more complete answers on some other similar questions.
I am atheist, I do not believe in god or religion. A lot of religious people I have encountered have tried to push their beliefs on me & I don't appreciate it. Also, I have seen a lot of hypocrites, not saying all just my experiences. I try to treat everybody with respect & live & let live.
I believe in the big bang and evolution. Also that you get one life and thats it, no afterlife. And finally I believe we should all work together and be good people, so we can leave a better world for our children.
Reality, common sense, believing in yourself, not gods. Taking your own life in your hands. Not letting lies of religion get to us. Having science be our friends but not needing to know everything that people 'think' they know(like most religions say)
Well, I'm really more of an agnostic, but Christians get us confused all the time, so I'll answer anyway. We're all what are generally termed "secular humanists" who believe that ultimately everyone must own their own morality. You can't do horrible or nasty things to people, or have mean-spirited beliefs and then hide behind God. This requires a certain degree of intellectual discipline sadly lacking in many, but by no means all theists.
maversa, I'm curious of your question. Are you doing a survey for one of your classes? Or, just asking out of personal interest? I'm amazed at how young you are and your sincere, kind and maturity level you are at your age. I am a strong believer but my 12 (almost 13) is at the age where she wants nothing to do with me or talk with me about anything. I don't push her too much into the things of God, I know it doesn't do any good to push. I only want her to "know" God for herself. I know this isn't your question above, sorry to change the subject. I just thought I'd ask you since you are so close to her age. she goes to public school and I think the way of thinking is to not be into God. Not cool, at her age. What do you think?

This is kinda something we talked about today in History Class. I'm not a believer of your god because he doesn't exist. I believe in knowledge, that there is an answer for everything but to question every answer will get you to think more deeply. I believe in hope, but not that of a higher force described like your god, but in the elements of the earth in which I and my ancestors were created from. Same with earthy magic and ritual, which are harmless and ment for self developement. Just think! Before ibuprofen we used herbs for pain! >.> None the less, I'm also a believer of love, because it comes in many forms and lovely chemicals. I believe in happiness because with out that what is there to live for? unless you are a person who is in to S&M, then by all means do things that inflect pain on ya. ;D I could go on for years saying what makes me happy, tick, and all that shit, but I don't want to waste everyone's time with that. ^__^ Hails to you.
PS! I am a Humanistic person! Which means I totally believe in the human experience and expressing myself as such! :D
will when you are atheist you don't do anything.you don't believe in anything. You don't need a religion to be a good person.I believe in justice ,fairness ,equality, love, peace, equal, happiness, respect,Atheist don't have religious beliefs just science logic and reason.Atheist are just like everyone else.just not religious.I'm atheist by the way.
I have no religion, but I believe in creatures. That don't even exist, or they might. Demons exist. Vampires, werewolves, and witches. Those are what I believe in. I hate religious people and churches. They make me feel uncomfortable lol

Freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, political freedom, equal protection under the law (of any land), right to privacy, no slavery, no degrading treatment or punishment, equal rights of marriage, equality of the sexes, no arbitrary arrests....
I don't believe in a god, but I believe in a creator (So I guess you could say that I don't subscribe to any religion but I'm not atheist, I consider myself agnostic), but basically I just try to pray (or telepathically speak to) whatever is out there on a regular basis, and try not to be the typical human that acts completely independent and then when they are in trouble gets on their knees and prays for help from whatever is out there. I try not to need that extra push, I try to have a relationship with what is around me and maybe a little more.
They believe in no God. Most of them are generally good, but have no legitimate religious beliefs. The real question is, why DON'T they believe in God? Proof of a Creator is all around us. This universe could not have come about without a source. God bless :)
