No it does not lose it's pictures. Put it in a bag of rice and put in the sun. My daughter did that and it worked and she had all of her contacts and pictures. :)

Shoot, I did that and left it overnight. The next morning I tried turning it on and nothing. I put it on the charger and the screen turned red. I'm now wondering if I should have left it in the bag longer. I also didn't put it in the sun :(

If the iPhone 4 comes in contact with water, you could lose all your pictures and much more data in your phone. If you drop it in water do not switch it on, remove the sim card and try shaking off any water in it. Take it to the Apple store and seek advice on what can be done.
