If it is a regular shape object (you can find its volume), then density = mass of the object/ it's volume. If it is irregular shape object it will be hard to determine the volume so you can do it by getting a tank full to its top with water and submerge your object completely in the tank and see how much volume of water will be displaced (over flow) from the tank.
The method that would be used to determine the density of an object is the direct measurement of the volumes of objects that have simple geometric shapes. You can also use the method of using the water displacement method to determine the volumes of irregularly-shaped objects.
