When you first start to fall asleep you enter the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) which is the stage of sleep when you dream. But your not fully unconscious yet so the dreams you are beginning to have may seem very real to you
I agree with others that it could be some form of restless leg syndrome but unless its really bothering you or keeping you awake you dont have to see a doc. Its not dangerous or anything. If you start having tremors or spasms in more than just your legs or you start having pain THEN go to a doc.
