No, a hard-boiled egg should be cooked for MUCH longer than a minute!!! OMG, three minute eggs are runny... can you imagine a ONE minute egg? The best way is to bring the eggs to a boil, cover the pan with a tight fitting lid, shut off the burner and leave the pan sit on the burner for 20 minutes. Then drain the hot water off and rinse the eggs in cold water until they are completely cool. This eliiminates the grayish ring around the yolk, and the eggs don't get rubbery from overcooking.

It gets scary on here sometimes, wondering if ppl are going to take the first advice they get. Sometimes I actually shake while I'm typing... like just now with the guy who wanted to know how to get his mower blade to run while the tractor is in REVERSE. Check out my answer to him... I hope he listens.

A hard boiled egg is supposed to be cooked for just a minute. By this time they are already ready to be allowed to cool. You should give them 20 to 25 minutes to cool as you run cold water over them.

Put eggs in pan. Add enough water to cover the eggs. Put lid on pan. Cook on high heat until water boils. Turn off heat but leave lid on pan for 15 minutes. Run cold water over eggs until cool to touch. Peel off shell and enjoy!

I cook them for 15 minutes, then after a few minutes, run them under cool water.

Candybar is right! One tip; if you put them in ice water to cool, they'll be much easier to peel!
