Well, you take the 5.95 and multiply it by how many people were there, 3. Then you take that and multiply it by 5%, or .05, and take the answer you got from that and the answer from the thing you got before that and add it together. Does that make sense or did I just screw you up?

3 people ... each had the $5.95 special ... so 3 x 5.95 = 17.85
5% tax ... so tax = .05 x 17.85 = 0.90
$17.85 + $0.90 = $18.75

I'm just using a 10-key set at 2 decimal places.
Which gives you a little "real life" lesson ... that most places will round taxes up to the nearest cent, not to the closest cent. This is so that they don't show underpayment of taxes when they send them in. (all those 0.0025 cents add up, y'know)

you do $5.95 x 0.05 because 0.05 is the tax. then add that answer to $5.95. thats your answer.

first 5.95 + 5.95 + 5.95 = 17.85 then 17.85 x .05 = .8925, then add 17.85 to .8925 = 18.74 then divide by 3 =6.24
