Does it hurt when you get your wisdom teeth pulled out?

Report as

Mine didn't ... of course, they put me under with anesthesia so I wasn't awake.
I started counting backwards from 100 ... and woke up at 90, 89 ... lol
I also told the dental assistant I loved her and asked her to marry me ... lol

Sounds like you react to anesthesia like I do. Last time I had surgery, just as that warm fuzzy feeling started to wash over me, I asked the anesthesiologist if he did parties... and then proceeded to tell them how ugly the mustard yellow walls of the surgical suite were.

Fun fact to scare you: you can not be put to sleep if you are 13 or up because you are to old. I just recently got my tooth pulled at temple and i was awake the whole time. I was scared and ready to cry. The lady told me that it doesn't hurt and if it does, they will numb your mouth so that you feel no pain.

Overall, it didn't hurt.
FYI: you can't be put to sleep because the procedure take like 39 secs....

Varies greatly person to person. Yes they drug you--personally it was literally the worst pain of my life. But my cousin was eating big macs the next day and my ex bf just had mild discomfort. I think it's a crap shoot.

I was drugged too. They went for all 4 of my wisdom teeth. But i have plenty of wisdom in my head. You wont feel it.

I remember waking up in pain, but then they gave me a very strong pain killer. I don't remember too much past that though. My mom said I started acting really drugged-out once the pain killer started to take effect...almost like I was a completely different person. I apparently got up and started singing and playing the piano once my mom got me home. I don't remember any of this of course. It's too bad, I bet I was having a great time. lol ;)

By the time your tooth gets pulled your mouth is numb. The actual pulling does not hurt. You will need to take a pain reducer for several day afterwards and be careful not to apply any pressure on the area like with food or sleeping on it. Don't worry it's a temporary discomfort.

Yeah, it's powerful stuff that they give you. I don't even remember the drug experience I had, but everyone told me I was acting very weird.

No. Mine did not. Had upper wisdom teeth pulled under anesthesia and lower wisdom's I was just numb. Take your pain meds and you will be fine!!

I was knocked out & afterward sang & giggled hysterically all the way home in the car. My head, full of cotton, kept falling to the side & hitting the window. The people in passing cars did not seem to appreciate the laughter & drooling. (Ached for a day but was eating the next night. No biggie, luckily.)

It doesn't hurt if you get knocked out. Plus you get a diet of mashed potatoes and milkshakes for a couple days. Plus some awesome drugs if they still give them out. Mine were done 22 years ago so I'm not surf what they give you anymore

Depends if you're going under anasthesia? I had mine done without a general, just local & yeah it hurt but not as much as I though it would.

Just had mine done. If good doctor-not a big deal. Allow several days of rest and you should be fine.

Yeah getting any teeth pulled hurts. I got a couple pulled when I had braces to keep everything all aligned. I heard the teeth that hurt the most when pulled are the Central Incisors (the nibbling teeth at the very front of the mouth). I think the wisdom probably aren't as bad when pulled, but I can't say for sure.

Depending on how impacted they were, you might have post-op pain. Your doctor will give you meds for the pain.
