How can you calm down after having a fight/flight/trauma response triggered?

Report as

ooooooooh , I really wished I knew the answer to this when I had my first reaction (CPR on a pedestrian who was hit by car on bike, I reacted in fight when it was all said and done and ambulance got there to take over it hit me!) I broke down into tears and couldnt breath and couldnt understand why? in the moment I was as calm as could be when i should have been panicky!?!? had I have known this was an actual common response I could have talked myself out of it by deep breaths and rationalization.., but that's a tough one cause we all react differently.. and depending on ones beliefs,. but also try not to question anything in that moment and focus on the fact "everything happens for a reason" and "breeeaathe" ....

To calm down after experiencing a fight of flight response you will need to breath deep, meditate and tame your tension. To manage trauma you should practice some yoga or tai chi, and do not force the healing process, instead be patient with the pace of recovery.

Blow in a paper bag, take deep breaths, or see a therapist.
