What was cocoa beans used for in Aztecs

Report as

The Aztecs ate cocoa beans prior to war to gain strength and they also used it as medium of exchange. The cocoa beans were also used to produce a thick chocolate drink. The Aztecs held the belief that the god Quetzalcoatl brought the cocoa beans from the tree of life to offer to man, but afterwards, the god was banished.
