It depends on the ticket. Some cities only ticket expired meter once every four hours. If it's a no parking zone for certain hours (along a major incoming or outgoing route,) they may tow it. I've seen up to three tickets on cars that are left all day.
It depends on why you were ticketed as to how much time you have to move it. If it was for a red zone, chances are it is being loaded behind a wrecker as we speak. If you were in a handicapped spot, first of all, SHAME ON YOU, and second of all, it's probably going bye-bye now too. If it was for an expired meter, they will give you a set amount of time to rectify the situation.
