Can dishwashing liquid be used to clean painted surfaces?

Dish washing liquid cannot be used to clean painted surfaces. The dish washing liquid has less oil removing power and therefore is not the best to use for cleaning painted surface especially when the paint is dry.

It is safe to use on most any surface,however it will break down the wax on automotive paint.
