This country began as a guerrilla war. The art of war had rules, you walked in a line, got as close as they could, fired & then continued if possible to reload, but usually that was impossible, so they rushed each other. The Americans knew that they were out gunned, out manned, & untrained. The French & Indian war taught us a few tricks, like hiding behind trees, make shift fox holes & any other thing that they could find.to hide. The Brits & Hessians were shocked, & appalled, these weren't men they were animals. All wars had a bit of unorthodox fighting. For most folks today, you say guerrilla warfare most think of Nam. They had miles & miles of underground tunnels that included things like mess, hospital care, weapons & booby traps. They'd pop up some where & attack, then disappear. We wanted & were trained to fight a battle, but usually found the enemy was gone. .
guerilla warfare have been used for more than 100 years now wich is an small force in enemy territory wich take out enemy positions, supply routes and random patrol squads. often light to medium armed and accustomed to the enviroment.
not to be related to wich sides whom use this tactics for every army are making use of it no matter belief. well some terrorist groups are using them because its and easy (but dangerously and high casualty) way to operate, but so do some armies in some of the recent operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, nothern Africa, ect.
