My tree branches have thread like stitching throughout some of the branches, what is this? I have a Japanese Maple and a Bradford Pear

the Bradford pear is 10 years old, the maple is 4. Is this just signs of growth or a disease, or I thought even perhaps cicada trails?

Thread like stitching throughout some of your tree branches may be as a result of a tree disease called Magnolia or Fungal Thread Disease. It is the first symptom that appears on a tree with that kind of disease. Once the blight spreads the leaves develop a defining matted appearance and make the leaves to stick together.
