I hear people say they're not afraid of the police. Then why are they running?

They're not afraid of the police themselves, but they don't want to go to jail either.

Because they finally realized that the police are something you should be afraid of.

its probably because they want to look tough, they are running because they have done something wrong or have something on them. you shouldnt be afraid of the police its just what the outcome is when you go to jail

Sounds like they'd rather not deal with the police AT ALL.

The guilty almost always run. There are many good, fair-minded police persons. But in some communities police have the power to use racial profiling as a sport, turning minorities into targets. It's shocking how much this happens. I'd run too.

I've never been pulled over as a "suspicious person" but my friend, a 40-something nicely dressed professional black man has been pulled over twice in San Francisco, his 'crime', we think, was that he was driving a luxury car that the police assumed was stolen. He was not treated nicely. Anyway, this question made me think of him.
