There were a TOTAL of (8). If U take time to read the question carefully it says "All Together", meaning “completely,” “entirely. We know there were THREE Stooges in the title only, but there were a total of (8) different actors who played as the Stooges. Not many people know their names or in what order they appeared in the act we know of today as The 3 Stooges. The original 3-man act, which was called "Ted Healy & his Southern Gentlemen" was comprised of Moe, Larry, & Shemp. After Shemp left the act to pursue a solo career, Curly joined the act. This incarnation of the team was the 1st to be known on film as "The 3 Stooges". When Curly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, Shemp came back to the act. When Shemp passed away of a heart attack, actor Joe Palma was used as a body double to fill in for Shemp. Actor Joe Besser then replaced Palma. Joe DeRita (nicknamed Curly Joe) replaced Besser in 1948. Later on, after Larry became sick and died, Moe tried to revive the act by using supporting actor Emil Sitka to replace Larry. Sitka appeared in nearly 40 episodes. So if U count up the total (all together) of actors who were billed as or acted in The 3 Stooges- you get EIGHT!!
