I just got 9 staples in my head yesterday is it safe to take a shower?

I got staples on my head at about 9:30 last night. how much time do I have to wait to take a shower. and if I take a shower, will the staples fall off? or can I take shower until I get my staples out? HELP I'M STARTING TO SMELL WITHOUT A SHOWER... lol

My friend just had surgery on his head and the aftercare instructions for bathing are rinse your head with a bowl of water for the first three days. Avoid shampoo for the first two weeks

Yes...you will want to avoid leaving the staples under the water for a long period of time...and do not put soap on the staples...that's why they suggest the bucket/water/sponge

Put a shower cap on and try to avoid getting that area wet.

Why didn't the doctor who put the staples in give you instructions on how to care for them?? If you went to the emergency room, they should have a number you can call for follow up questions. Or call your doctor's office.

Go to your doctor and ask because they were sypposed to tell you the instructions.

No. Water in that open area will promote an environment for unwanted bacteria growth. Area should be covered with sterile gauze. Surrounding skin can be cleansed with antibacterial soap.

You can still take a shower but just make sure your staples don't get wet. Use a shower cap.

i have no idea i have 6 different wounds with staples in the back of my head i got them yesterday but i want to wash my hair help -.-

That exact thing happened to me. You can wash yourself but don't take a shower until your staples are out even if there is blood in your hair like their was in mine. Take a bath but don't get your hair wet. The staples won't fall out but just imagine scrubbing over them. It wouldn't feel nice. But trust me, you will be more happy to take a shower after your staples are out because it will feel so clean.
