One vehicle takes two spaces how many meters need coins?

None! It is against most state's laws for a car to take two spots and so one could get a parking ticket or towed. But as for whoever collects the money for the meter, the U. S. rule is if you can occupy at least 5/8 of both spots with your car both spots are free.
