What should I do if I have horrible cramps?

Period cramps.

Some of the things that can reduce period cramps are pain relievers, exercise which helps release endorphins. Ensure that you eat right and sleep enough. Having a nice warm bath also helps and also putting warm water bottle on the belly.

soak in a hot tub, for 1 hr., take 4 ibuprofen before you get in the hot tub. the pain subsides with in an hour, works for me.
