The minimum legal age for alcohol consumption in Tennessee went from 18 to 21 between 1979 and 1971. Initially, after 1933 it was 21.It was then lowered to 18 years in 1971 by the 26th Amendment, then again raised in 1979 to 19 years. It went up to 21 in 1984.
