since is was the biggest ship of its time they thought it could pass through pretty much anything but guess what? it doesnt matter how big the ship is NOTHING IS UNSINKABLE!!! and on top of that the captain knew he was rolling the dice when he chose the route he did Thanks man you spent about half a billion dollars of Americas Peoples taxes on a ship, A SHIP!!!!
In this time, Titanic was a huge improvement in ships in her day. Metal tight compartment that were resisted to water, larger living space than any floating ship, and the fact that she was designed carefully by some of the greatest engineers doesn't hurt the legacy of "The Unsinkable" ship. AND yes Ann Martens, the story of the famous and well known Jack & Rose is true. Rose was the oldest living witness to the sinking of the Titanic. She was 109 years old when she passed away.
ok they said it was the unsinkable ship because it had 2 layers of protection so if their was a hole in it the boat would still have 1 layer of protection the only problem with that was that the iceburg that sunk the ship tore through both layers of protection therfor making it sink
A ship that big, with like so many layers on it. The layers were like armor protecting the ship. It would be considered as unsinkable. Plus, the engineers of the ship had so many; big compartments, and heavy weight doors that would prevent the ship from sinking, but... the iceberg they hit, was so big and glassy; let's just say, that it tore a big gaping hole right outta the ship, then sunk it. At the end of the movie, " Titanic," you see that the ship is was already sinking. When one of the workers; r.i.p, touched one of the engineer's work, he got killed, then the power went out, which allowed the ship to sink even more, then the whole ship started to tear apart. Every actor on that movie of Titanic was acting like every single person that died on that ship. R.I.P. It was really sad, what happened :'(
the titanic was the biggest ship in all time. In addition to all the new technological advances they took with this ship, they thought that it was so big, they would be able to spot an iceberg that is big enough to sink the ship from far away, and be able to turn away in time
It was the biggest ship ever and it was made with lots of improvements. As it was suposed to be Unsinkable, they didn't put enough life saving boats in. And so it sank and many people died bcause of that (both the sinking and the lifesaving boats missinG)

THE CORRECT ANSWER:
What I know about the Titanic I have learned from reading and research. The movie they made contained SOME truth... but not a lot. It is a movie, after all. This ship had an interesting design. It had large compartments that were set with heavy doors, and lower compartments were designed in such a way that if one or more compartments flooded, the ship could still float. The design flaw was these compartments were not sealed at the top. Once the ship began to go down, water began spilling over the tops of the compartments instead of staying put, and this contributed to her going down. As for hitting the iceberg, the Captain had asked for a speed increase a few hours before she hit. They DID see the iceberg in time, but when the ship was designed, they didn't give it a big enough rudder to turn out of the iceberg's path in time. Plus, the sheer amount of damage incurred when she hit was more than the ship could take.
They said the titanic was unsinkable because they thought it was very well made and really strong that nothing could break it. the Titanic was the biggest ship it the world. But they found out that it was breakable when the iceberg hit it and it got a big hole that it made water go inside and sink the ship.
People said that the Titanic was unsinkable because not only because it was the largest ship at that time, it was because it was they never thought that an iceberg could create such a big hole in the ship. :)
titanic WAS SINKABLE its material wasnt strong enough and could easily rupture. which was why it got cut open at the bottom because of the material and besides the only thing that made it sail through the ocean was those poor men working down there in the engine. a alot of those men got trapped and drowned. this is a fact i watched on tv i think it was called "in search of titanic"

They said the Titanic was unsinkable because, at the time, it was the largest ship in the world. It was considered to be a big part of history, and most people just figured if something is important, nothing bad will happen to it.

I might be wrong on this. They say that the RMS Titanic was the largest steam vessel that was moving. It weighed close to 50,000 tons. The ship was 11 stories tall and 4 city blocks long. No wonder they say the ship was unsinkable.
