To treat a torn muscle, use aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce pain. Do not use NSAIDS if you are taking a blood thinner or have kidney disease or gastrointestinal bleeding. If you have any of these conditions, it is safer to use acetaminophen instead. Be sure to protect the injured area from further injury, rest the area, treat with ice and compression and keep the area elevated.
