Why are people so hateful?

I started using this site to help people out, offer some fresh perspective and perhaps also gain some insight from others. I think a community of people with different backgrounds, expertise, experience, etc is a great way to learn and help each other. My particular expertise is in nutrition, and it would seem that when I try to give the best answer I know, there are always those few ready to challenge and belittle my knowledge. Is it fair to get called down on an opinion and of higher education you worked feverishly to obtain? I am finding my inputs less and less helpful and instead feeling frustrated and bullied by people who have never even shook my hand. It's a real shame people have to be so closed down to new information and some friendly advice. What is the crime in helping others? Offering your expertise? Why do people have know-all personalities and everyone else is idiotic? Why so cruel? It's starting to bring out nastiness in my own replies, and I don't like it!

I know how you feel. People ask for advice or a answer but all they really want is you to agree with them. I have gotten so meany thumbs down when all I'm giving is my opinion. And same with me I just want to help....

I get thumbs down alot,i get thumbs up alot. The only time i get mean is if they're mean to me.You don't know these people & they don't know you. Try not to take it personally. Those are the angry idiots who love to make people feel bad. Ignore them,they're not worth it.

some people are just plain ignorant they don't know better. maybe the problem is just them... Life moves on!

I and many others know how you feel, I think there are those that just prowl looking for certain individuals. As for me, I joined this site to help, and did not realize that you need to have thick skin to do this, was in fact taken back at first, I refuse to let it bother me, if someone wants to give me a thumbs down, or comment adversely, that's their rite to do so. I always try to be kind, and even come to the defense of others, everybody has their rite to their point of view, some are rite, some are wrong. You came to help, well then just help, don't let others that will call names or insult get to you, they may be immature, remember there are a lot of younger people on this site who don't have life experience yet and may be prone to a knee jerk reaction....there are a lot of people that are reaching out, when you reach back, and they thank you, that is the only reward I or anybody should need, and we should not even need that! Just keep doing what you do, I appreciate you!!

all human beings are not same, they are behaviors are different from one another. thing is behavior is not automatic.every behavior has a reason. behavior is like a symptom. so hateful behavior also same like that. basically there are 3 determinants effect decide a human behavior there are perceptions, personality and attitudes. people may hateful due to above factors.

Well, to some, it's one of their only outlet for their hateful nature. It's fun for them. We know you're legit and I know it. The community of the serious ones that are trying to make a difference. You can't let them know that you're frustrated or they win. From here on, you'll need a thick skin if you're truly serious about helping people. Screw those haters and keep answering those questions. I believe David Allen Grier said it best on his appearances on "Loveline" when he said "Let's save some babies!"

Well.... Before you help others you should know what you are talking about.

Just because you have an "education" doesn't mean you are intelligent.

I don't put others downs.... Just honest.... I guess the truth does hurt others but hopefully makes
them better.

Funny how people that are ignorant or misinformed are always mad.... Those people need to open their eyes so to speak.....

It's people like you that make the world the way it is. I take pride in my education, and don't need an insecure stranger challenging my intelligence or telling me whether or not I have any. Kindly bugger off and try not to be so rude towards people. I guess your high intelligence and truths awarded you far more thumbs down than thumbs up.

Strangely, I can see his viewpoint, as well. You'd be surprised how many educated folks that I have met yet speak without a single good thought coming out of their mouths. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But that's it.

Honestly I've had to take a biblical perspective by not "casting my pearls to swine". In this age the majority of people have low self esteem and very large egos which seems like an oxymoron. In my experience with people working as a professional counselor I had to step back. Most of the time people like hearing themselves talk.
