Is it normal for my cat to have a kitten 3 days later than this first kitten born?

My cat had her kitten on monday than on wednesday she had another kitten (still born) is this normal?

Report as

That's not normal, and it's the reason the second kitten was stillborn.

Kittens should be born every fifteen to twenty minutes or so, and she should be done in a little more than an hour or two. Kitten number two got stuck, and died in the birth canal. It's good that it has passed, but mama really should have been taken in to the vet yesterday.

If there are no more kittens, she should be fine. If there are more, shell be very sick in just anoter day. Only way to tell is to let the vet check her.

Not sure about cats but my dog started having pups and she was still having them 36 hours later. But she had 18 pups, and she had one every couple of hours. if its been days between them there might be something wrong. that kitten is prob stillborn because it was in there to long after labor started. if she is still having contractions you will need to take her to the vet. you can tell when she has one. she will kind of bow up and her stomach will get hard.

I'm sorry your cat lost a kitten. :~( The condition you describe is unusual. It's also possible that there might be more kittens yet to come, stillborn or otherwise. Time to see the vet.

Yes, this is very normal, I don't know exactly how to explain, but it's like the last kitten needed to stay in the stomach just for a bit longer. I have a cat so I think I know :)

Go see a vet, something might be seriously wrong.
If I were you I would see if the one looks different than the other, or acts different.

It is normal for your cat to have a kitten 3 days after the first kitten is born. In round-headed domestic cats, delivery of kittens takes a much longer time than in other slender cat breeds. Each kitten is contained in its own placenta, so they come out each one at its own time and one by one.

You should probably take her to the vet anyways to be sure - because it's not normal for a cat to just have 1 or 2 in a litter. It's not completely unheard of, but the average is usually more than that. You don't want to risk her getting sick, if there are still other kittens that are stillborn in her womb.

I agree with you. However, I did take in a stray cat, not knowing she was pregnant. The next day she had only 2 kittens, but they were born within about 10 minutes of each other. I took her and the babies to the vet, they were all fine but the vet said it's uncommon for them to only have 2.

Cats usually have all their kittens in a matter of an hour or two. One time my cat had them over the course of a day and left dead kittens all over my yard. Wasn't fun. Just make sure you tend to then living ones while you can.

I think it highly depends on the cat to be honest with you... My domestic house cat just had three babies yesterday. The male cat got her all through her breeding season over a 24 hour period. But it was her first time mating she kept turning over on her backside on my male cat. so it resulted in her having a very small litter... It really just depends on the female because The female cat i had before this, was done the same way by her male partner but she delivered 6 kittens about 65 days later!
