Days ago you made a comment that got me thinking. Thanks. On this somewhat related question here is my response.
( ;~{)
I would have no argument with what someone wants or chooses to believe or have faith in. I have no concern for the ideas someone chooses to have in their head.
- But when claims are made about a geographical location for the garden of Eden or the flood being an historical event or any claim to factual historic events of any kind then it becomes open for debate to anyone with any interest in those subjects.
- The religious whining about the non-religious getting involved in the conversation while the religious make claims of scientific merit is classic hypocrisy.

Oh yeah, my comment. I hope I wasn't too bold or passive agressive about it. I was mostly in a not-so-good mood that day but I do get sick of athesits (not all, you for the most part don't seem to do this except for on some occasions but mostly you don't do I respect that) that constantly on here critise and ridicule Christians and their beliefs. I respect the belief of others to not believe in God so long as they respect mine and others. I mean I see some particular atheists (not naming names) that almost every question they answer is Christian questions and I don't like that-this app is to help others and share knowledge, not for stuff like that. So many atheists love science but few answer questions regarding that. That is what bugs me but I am glad you say you have no issues with others belief but I don't really get the second thing you're saying since I haven't seen those q's. But I can understand what you're saying. I don't think it's stated anywhere even in the bible where the garden of Eden is located.
Report as
Oops accidentally deleted like half of what I said "most of their answers are Christian questions where they ridicule and mock"
Report as
I do actually see your second point, and I get what you're saying.
Report as
Thank you for your understanding and I have noticed "those" atheist, and on occasion have attempted to redirect their efforts to more factual pursuits.
Oh, and that question about the location of the garden of Eden recently came up which I did answer because a particular location was being claimed.
Report as
Youre welcome:) I know I have seen you sometimes make comments, but not really. It's not like your whole being is on making comments like "those" atheists. For the most part I have seen you as respectful. And I get the garden of Eden thing. There is no spoken location of the garden of Eden, and I AM a Christian, and even I have to say that's a little bit silly. I believe obviously that there was one, but no one would no where it is.
Report as
And I'm thank you for your redirection:) this site should be positive, helping others like I said before and contributing. I bet those atheists really know there science since most of them are into that, and a lot of people have science questions! They might as well help with that.

I think people are feeling fearful and a bit insecure in the world. No one seems to share a common goal and no one seems to want to make an effort to work together to make anything better. Some feel distrustful of the unfamiliar and unknown. Fearful people can be panicky and dangerous. I hope we can pull it together soon.

Report as
true...that is one of the curses of humanity....we have a choice.....God gave us free will....except in cases of abortion...then the bilbe-thumpers say God is pro-life....funny how that works ain't it ?
Report as
God certainly didn't make Cain do evil. That was a choice which he made based on greed. Perhaps greed is the most probable reason why there is so much division in the world today.

People don't really listen to others. All they hear are the differences, not the commonalities, which is where friendship and understanding come from.

There with out question many reasons why there is division in the world. One thing I am sure with is we live in different places/ environments. Depending on how you look at divisions, our different surroundings/ environments has influenced us to diversify resulting in may people to be divided. This is one perspective, as division of people has many meanings.

there is something in history that is called "first mention". i could recite some first mentions but then they might be debated (i know i have challenged them at times). individually, politically, culturally, globally. there are three areas that create the most stringent walls to unity: pride; provision; power. sometimes these are even guised in "peace". in short the key to the answer is in a word "self-ish-ness". on the other hand to be of one accord.. well that is another story.

Report as
yes :)
Report as
In all honesty I think we've made strides on both ends of the spectrum. There is greater tolerance in some ways and on the other end, more weaponry to kill each other. Humans are humans. Every war or conflict cones down to just one question," Who is in charge here?" ( hi Robert good to see you!)

DDX please explain what you mean.
Report as
When religion is enforced into a government system, chaos is the only outcome. Like religious nuts denying people to marry when it is their natural right. Religious nuts that want creationism taught in schools yet not karma incarnation or any other religious beliefs. Religion is the sole cause for the human race not being able to advance at a faster rate. I believe religion is great when used on a personal level. All religious myths hold value to human kind like fairy tales and fables. But the people like Rick Santorum and Rick Perry are complete psychonauts.

I don't know if the world is any more divided now than before, or if it's just more evident now because the world has become so technically advanced in all areas, including communication. The world is ruled by man (different powers and governments) and not God, and that's why there's so much division.

Is it? In some senses sure, but there is still a lot of bad things happening and some things are even repeating themselves.
Report as
Yes but there is less war, rape and murders, then ever before.
Report as
That's right, if you look at actual statistics and mathematical estimates we are living in an era of peace and prosperity.
Report as
There are less that's true, but there is still some pretty bad today that there was in history. Like there are things going on in other parts of the country that are a lot like the holocaust. And most rapes go unreported.
Report as
But you're right I suppose, we do have less war and more freedoms then ever before.
Report as
I dot deny that bad things happen every day, all over the world, but it happens less and less every year, as civilization, police and prisons help scare people into line in most countries.
Report as
True. It's defiantly better, but worse in some aspects.

It has been that way since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. We just have access to global information and it makes it seem like there's more. Same old, same old, really.

"division" is just the natural state of what has always been natural. Without division there would not be hope for a better way.

Great question. Unfortunately, far too many don't grasp the simple answer - which is that those relatively few in "power" create and perpetuate "division" among the "people" in order to retain power over them. Remember "Together, we stand - divided, we fall"? They are counting on us being divided, or their power is "gone". And they will use any horrific device they can come up with to keep us where they want us - race, religion, class, gender, income etc. - anything they can possibly use in order to pit us against each other - because the more we are against each other - the more power they have over all of us. It's the age old strategy that has worked time and time again throughout human history - "DIVIDE AND CONQUOR!" - and we still don't get it - do we? It's way past time we did!
