Could I get a disease from kissing my Boxer puppy on the cheek? We bathe him and all but is it still possible?

we bathe him four days a week, he is a puppy and he also licks me in the face but I tuck in my lips and just let him...:D

you can bathe a dog too much and dry out his skin so please be careful.....and I would check with your vet to be sure but dogs are not human so it is possible....maybe not probable to catch ' something ' from your dog's skin

snafubar is right. I never bathed my dogs, even the indoor one, more than once every couple of months. Their skins lack the protective oils that ours have. In addition, never use human shampoo on a dog, as their skin lacks the natural acid mantle that ours has, and our shampoos are too acidic.

dogs....and cats secrete oils just like humans do.....check with your vet but I wouldn't bathe him but once a week....now you can let him play in the water and skip the ' bathing ' and you should be fine.....I used to give my dog a raw egg once a week to keep her coat shinny.....most foods now have added proteins and vitamins to help......people shampoo is not good for dogs tho

My vet told me that the only reasons dogs' skins get "oily" is if they have thyroid problems or seborrhea. But he may have been mistaken, or I may have misunderstood him. But he said that once every other month is quite sufficient unless the dog gets a doggy odor, rolls in something dead, or gets muddy.

okay....I bow to superior knowledge on the bathing thingy....mine never got one unless she did the roll in da dead thingy

Hey, it's all good... different opinions and friendly debate is part of Ask's charm. Mine not only rolled in dead stuff, they completely loved on it... behind the ears and all. Ugh. I can't count the times I was bathing a dog in the tub, holding them with one hand and holding my hair back with the other so I could ralf in the toilet!

sorry but.......lmao.....sorry again...been there, done that more than once

Aww that is so cute I love those dogs! To answer your question, I do not think that you can get a disease from your new puppy, especially if you give him that many baths!

Your puppy is cute I don't think you can get sick but best if you don't kiss him anymore if you start feeling sick might be fur or allergies. But I don't think so cuz u bathe him so much

It's just when I do my eyes get itchy but it's probably a coincidence Lol
Report as
that might not be a coincidence....itchy eyes is one of the signs of a allergic reaction....you will have to have your doctor to test you to be sure...hope not tho

I've never heard of contracting a disease from a cute puppy (:
Hopefully your boxer is up to date on all the meds and vaccines, but I wouldn't worry if the dog seems fine. lol years ago my neighbor's son use to basically devour my dog in hugs and kisses, he turned out fine haha

I kissed my doggies all the time.. and I never caught anything. That said, there are certain disease that can cross the barrier between species. These are known as zoonoses. For more information on canine/human zoonoses, check out this link: www.oregonvma.org/care-health/zoonotic-diseases-dogs

Aww! <3 But you can't get sick from kissing dogs. You clean it a lot, so I'm pretty sure. ^-^

As long as you don't let your dog eat thrash i think it'll be okay. There are more weird things they do with their animals on this website http://porngun.com

You should not bathe your puppy that much!! It can cause other problems and it washes away the oils they naturally produce. You can buy special wipes for puppies/dogs to use in between baths, but don't use them too often either, for the same reason. I use generic baby wipes on my dogs....for wiping them off in between baths. They are good for cleaning muddy paws, etc. Some kinds of baby wipes contain the same ingredients that are in the wipes made for dogs. They also make sprays to use & wipe off your dog instead of putting the dog in a bath. Bathing every other month is sufficient for a dog, unless they have gotten very dirty or in to something smelly or dangerous that needs to be cleaned off. Never use human shampoo on your dog. :)
