I got an 8GB Imation flash drive but when I open "My Computer" it shows 7.19GB. Why is this?

Internal programming I think. I'm not computer buff but I'm pretty sure those MB are used up by the stuff that tells the USB how to work and store information, the formatting and such.

Your Imation flash drive might be having less memory because it has a virus in it. You should insert the drive into your PC and scan it using anti-virus software before opening it.

Because the memory taken from the 8 gig is used on the folders and other default info in the usb

That is normal every memory card does that the operating system uses the rest

This is normal, every flash drive or hard drive has this. It is 8GB but they have took some of the memory up programmes and other files so it can work properly

Sometimes the system has preset programmes on which take up space as well as the memory it has to use to run and to view you folders and files as well as to load them. Some businesses round the memory up so if it was actually 0.99TB they would advertise it as 1TB
