Medicare medical necessity Will medicare pay for the gym

Report as

Medicare will pay or not pay for the gym depending on the type of Part B plan you have. This will help you get some or part coverage in a gym or health club. Talk to your health care provider to find out what is possible and what is not. Read more details at www.webmd.com/medicare/what-does-medicare-cover.

Physical therapy yes, just to work out, no.

NO....please do not abuse the system. You can afford a gym if you just spend a little less in other areas of your life. I have patients coming to me asking for a script for a "hot tub", "massages", "gym membership".....geez, why don't I write scripts for everyone out there!

Please tell your clients they can get free memberships at the YMCA.

If you are low income, you can get a free YMCA membership. Medicare does not pay for gym memberships. There may be some type of supplemental insurance plan that does. Most exercises can also be done at home with the investment in a little equipment.
