When you don't eat your body puts itself into a hibernation like state where it feeds off your stomach. Not eating will cause you to gain weight more then weight. Eating 6 small meals a day keeps your metabolism working which means you burn off more then you eat. There is no substitute to a proper diet and exercise. The people replying have no idea what they're talking about.
yes but not as quickly as it would if you did eat. your body is still using energy so it needs to burn fat but it wont burn as much because it is preserving its energy for when it needs it since its not getting anymore

If you don't eat, or eat way less than your body burns, yes you will burn fat as well as muscle, you will lose weight. It is not a healthy way to lose weight and when you do start eating again your body will try to conserve calories just in case you try to starve it again, so you may regain even more than you lost.
Considering the variety of answers you got here I think you may be better off to buy yourself a good nutrition book rather than rely on the opinions expressed here.
First, your body burns sugar from your blood and liver storage. Then your body will burn fat and finally muscle. When you don't eat, you will quickly have less energy so you will exercise less. You will get rid of a lot of water you would normally use to break down and use food. This will show up as loss on the scale but it is just water. Your body will go into a state of starvation to burn less calories trying to save your life. This slows weight loss. You will start to burn muscle mass making you weaker. It is much better to eat less fat and sugar and exercise more to keep as much energy and muscle as possible as you lose weight. This will help you keep the fat off better over time. You will also feel a lot better and not put your health @ risk.
do not stop eating. the rules are: NEVER eat fat or sugar. for meals eat a stick of celery, and a piece of chicken. for every meal, not exercise, and you will be thin. or, eat normally and exercise two times a day.
look ur body burns fat while you sleep but not eating is not the way to lose weight. my friend tried this and her hair feel out and then she colapsed in class one day, when you sdont eat your bosy clings to its fat and starts storing it so its even harder to burn, and my friend has been suicdal and been to consualing and she still dosent get it so dont be a idiot like her and get your self killed!
Your body burns carbs, fat and then muscle in that order. If you go on a fast your body will burn very little muscle and mostly burn sugar and fat. http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2012/07/24/3549931.htm Read about a man that lose hundreds of pounds by not eating anything at all really. To say you will gain weight by not eating is like saying your car can go farther by not putting gasoline in it. YOU CAN NOT GAIN WEIGHT IF YOU DO NOT CONSUME CALORIES.
