Ask them two questions that you know was answered truthfully watching their facial expressions intently. Then ask them a question that you think they might be lying about. If the expression changes or the tone of their voice they are lying. It will be small things like a twitch of the eye or nose.
You can tell that a person is a liar by the way he or she exaggerates things that are ridiculous. You can also know a liar by the way that he or she fools people at first but once they get to know him, no one believes anything they ever say.
What I have seen, how people lie is that, they stutter a lot, your they turn red. Usually a person does that or looks away from you. That's the most common thing. Also, when they repeat their answer over and over.

Sometimes they're so good that you CAN'T tell if they're lying(politicians, for example!). Each person is different-some may not look you in the eye-others will stare right at you and lie their behinds off. The only thing you can be sure of is that you can't be sure of who is lying to you & who isn't just by physical mannerisms.
Some signs of people lying are: Stuttering, shifty eyes, insisting (ex. If you were to say "I think you're lying." the person would get very defensive and yell), not being able to maintain eye contact, continually plays with their hands or tries to distract themselves, also, if they are making up the lie on the spot, they may hesitate to answer for a bit when you ask them a question, there are many other signs but these are the most common. I hope this helps ^.^
