Faith is the ability to believe something is true, even when there is no evidence to support that truth. Therefore, people who believe in god were conditioned to believe from early childhood. Conditioning is why they believe, plus they learn the words of the rhetoric. Those who do not believe, base their position on the absence of evidence. For them, proof is essential and there is no proof that there is a god. For them, believing in god is like believing in ghosts. The point? I have never met an atheist who minds if other people find comfort in their god, but I have met a lot of rabid, aggressive, disrespectful religious types who are personally offended and disgusted that there are people in the world with perspectives that differ from theirs.
they believe in one to keep themselves from going crazy with their problems...they think that they need someone o something to lead them to do the right thing....and people who dont believe in one think that they can make the right decisions on their own
i was raised a christian there was a point in time where i stopped believing but after i got sick and i came close to dying one night and i seen heaven i believed again some people dont believe because they can't see him or talk to him in person some do because they know that there is a higher power it all depends on your beliefs
These are natural questions any one asked and especially at your age. As with your last question about being a different religion that your parents. People come onto their own thinking and make new decisions. At your age you have to respect your parents right now but that's no reason to not read the bible on your own or do some devotionals that are different than what you are used to. I love Jesus, that is why I go to church, so that I can fellowship with other believers. Stick with it. Remember that it's the same Jesus that died for your sins and the same loving God that created you no matter what building you go to on Sunday mornings.
We believe in God because he is there. It's like believing in the wind, u know it's there whether u see it or not. The reason people.don't believe is because they don't want to give up a lot of things and they simply don't want to change. And the point is that God created all of us and we all have souls he wants back in Heaven with him. As followers of God, all we want to do is please God and make it to Heaven back with him.
God is our creator. Without him we would not exist. Look around at the beauty of the earth. How could you not believe in God? Believing means you must have the ability to have Faith in something you cannot see or feel. God sent his only son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. You might try asking God yourself. He will show you the answers you seek. You just have to open your heart and your mind to Him and he is always there for you. Many things and people on this earth will fail or disappoint you but God always is there and he will always be there to help you through your life but you have to be willing to accept Him and ask him into your life. One day all will see the truth. God bless
I believe in god because life would seem pointless and empty if there wasn't more to it than what we can see and touch. In the end it comes down to having faith, to hold onto something without any evidence other than existence. Everyone will have their own reason to believe or not to, it is difficult to give one answer for your question.
Humans have a need for there to be something more than the life we have now. They have a need for there to be someone who punishes those who do evil and reward those who do good. That is why religion was created. Some people no longer have these animal instincts so they no longer need to believe in a fictitious being such as "god". They realize the truth that others refuse to even consider, let alone accept. Your third question can be answered in the answer to your first and second question. I advise you not to allow anyone to dictate your own beliefs. You are allowed to believe in what you choose. Those who are religious will try to pressure you unto their side, while those who aren't religious will also try to convince you to join them. Only you can choose what you believe. I ask of you only this: Regardless of what you choose to believe, always respect the beliefs of those with opposing views and allow them to live their lives as they please.
Not everyone believes for the same reason. Some believe because thats what they were raised to believe and they really think its true. Some believe because it gives them hope that theirs something beyond death, and/or something greater than the world theyre in now. Some need extra motivation to do the right thing, reward heaven, punishment hell, basically what Silvia said. And Im sure there are other reasons as well. Without religion there would be chaos, since nobody would believe, all those people who need to believe in god to do the right thing, would be on their own without a rule book on life (example: bible) they wouldnt know whats right or wrong. There are also multiple reasons people DONT believe. Maybe something happened that made them think "If god were real, he wouldnt let this happen." Some dont see any proof that god exists. And Im sure there are other reasons. There are different points on believing or not believing. It all depends on your reason. IMO, if youre an honest person, theres no point. You just believe or dont and theres no motive behind it. Its just what you know is real, or what you know is not real.
Religion does give people a great deal of comfort and hope. Who doesn't want to think that goodness will be rewarded with eternal bliss with loved ones at their side? The threat of Hell is a very powerful tool for maintaining social order. Who doesn't want good to triumph over the evil doers? And all the while there is a heavenly father watching our every move. Nearly every religion is based on these basic concepts. Some people seek a god in the sky. Some feel no need to seek anything. Some of us feel we were born with all we need.
1) Because they see evidence of something intelligent that created the universe. 2) Because they have faith in the laws that say if something is physically possible it is probable to eventually occur by chance. 3) God is the point.
At your young age, no religion makes much sense, especially the Catholic church. It's just an understanding that comes with age. You go to a parochial school. If the nuns and priests haven't answered your questions to your satisfaction, I won't even try.
People believe or don't for so many reasons. They believe because they were forced to, mainly. Know any children who were raised to believe whatever they want? But they also believe because they are scared to NOT believe (after-death puishment). And they don't believe because they realize, for the most part, it doesn't make sense. Those are the basic reasons.
The first 2 are unnecessary to answer. Answer the third one first and don't waste time on the first 2. I am an Apathetic Agnostic: I don't know and I don't care. Explain to me how a person who helps others and tries to do the best he/she can doesn't believe in God and goes to hell and the murderer who repents on his deathbed goes to heaven? Incongruent. So really, why bother worrying if there is a God or not because it will NEVER be settled until he/she comes to you personally. Other than that, just do the best you can. If there is a God, he/she will recognize it. If not, then all that matters is how you feel about yourself.
They believe for piece of mind. It's like a security blanket. That's just one reason. I do not believe because I don't think that praying to a man in the sky is going to make my life better. I think I have to take responsibility for my own life and decisions and not hand it over to god. Some say that god protects children, evidence around the world proves otherwise. There is more proof against god than there is for "him"
The point is , the differance between A , God . And The God ! The God , is the ( Definite ) article . The Most High , The Allmighity , The Supreme Being . The Creator of The Heaven's and The Earth . A , God is One Who has god Like power's . Bush , Chaney , etc.
Why do I believe in God? I believe in Him because He is real. God is indeed real, the most real thing in existence. He created us, and He loves us. He is actually holding every thing in physical and spiritual existence - if He ceased to do so, we would all vanish while He continues to exist. God is our Father. God is our Creator, or Redeemer, and our Sanctifier. God is the Blessed Trinity - three distinct Persons who share the same divine nature. God is an eternal family. God is Truth. God is love. He is the ultimate reality. He is actually holding all things in existence. If God stopped doing so, we would cease to exist, but He would continue to exist. He is the Supreme Being. he is self-existing (not caused), eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere. God is pure spirit, which means he does not have the limitations of a body. God is also supremely personal. he is no more force or power. In fact, he is a communion of persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is the Blessed Trinity. (My answer continues in the comments)
they want to believe that death is not the true ending and that there will be a better place afterwards, some think it helps with guilt for when you relitive or best friend dies, or it helps keep the peace and keep them on an honest track. me personally i can stay honest do the right thing live my life and still not have to believe in a higher power. im sure i live my life better than any Theist will ever live theres, i can live my life to its fullest while they go beat off to a god.
I am not one of those burn in hell bible thumpers. I went at it from a more logical perspective, and am convinced there is a more compelling case for God, whereas atheists still can't prove there isn't a God.
